30a switch on 50a circuit

With the help of gj, I wired a 50 amp circuit a few years back. This was done using 6/3 just in case I needed the other wire. I put a Leviton ms602 switch on this circuit near the outlet to have a shutoff. Since I am moving, I'd like to take this expensive switch with me and want to know if I can put a 30a switch in its place.

I have a Leviton ms302, 30a that says is good for 5hp at 240v. That is fine for this circuit. I also have a 30a Seymour Pass that has no info. Is it safe to assume it's rated the same?

Also, the Leviton has line coming in from the left side and to the motor on the right side of the switch if you are looking at the switch from the front. The Seymour Pass has no markings. Is is standard to have line in from left and motor on right?

WHY is the switch necessary? Is the panel not within sight?
In fact, if this feeds a nearby receptacle the switch is totally unnecessary. The receptacle IS your means of disconnect.

The panel is in basement and the end of circuit is in basement.

For compressor at 5 hp, this is the disconnect when it's hard wired. For a plug in device this is just another shutoff.

Just want to know if a 30a switch on 50 amp breaker circuit is kosher. Thanks

No. Switch needs to be at least the same amp as circuit.

If your moving then just take your devices out and cap off the wires and cover, This way the future owner can install what they want,if they even use it

That was my point.

I'll take the switch out use that box as a junction box and just leave an outlet below and its up to code that way. Thanks.
