Questions for the electricians. I'm looking to eliminate the 50-30 adapter I use to power my 30amp trailer at home. I have an extra cord and would replace the 30amp plug with 50 amp plug, but only use 1 leg. Would that be acceptable?
I'm not a fan of the adapters has they always seem to cause excessive heat.

so you are going to remove the 30a cord and plug and wire in a 50a cord and plug?

you should make sure the breaker panel in the RV has a 30a main breaker or verify its rated for more than 30a.

using only 1 ungrounded conductor isnt an issue.

adapters shouldnt be heating up unless they are loose and have poor contact.

I simply replaced the plug end on my 30amp cord (hot, neutral, grd) with a 50amp plug, but only utilized 1 hot leg. This would eliminate the adapter use.
Yes the camper has a power center with 30a main.

This is how I wired the cord.
