looking good, wishing I was as far along as you.
Thanks, you know I could save you some work and just trade places with you! Your shop is going to be awesome! Keep up the good work, I know it is slow going when you are working and building but it looks like you are making good progress.

Thank you, progress has been really slow lately as it has been below zero many days and there is no insulation in the ceiling yet but i did get out there a little yesterday.

Do you have anything on the floor yet? (Work benches, tools, vehicles...?)

Not yet I am kind of trying to keep that stuff out until I get most of the interior finished so I don't get diatracted with other projects. Also the door tracks are not finished yet so I can't open the big doors.

I'm going to have a 40 x 30 built in the next couple months and was looking at doing a lot of it the same way as you. I'm putting up 10' walls and doing part with scissor trussed and the rest with regular. All the contractor is doing is the main building then i'm going to do the electrical, insulation and walls. It will be in FLA so I won't need the heating you have, but will have to look at cooling it somehow. I'm not sure which way I'm going to go with that. I was thinking about talking to the sub the builder uses for the house and see what we can work out. How are those lights working out for you ? I'm using the same on the interior walls and your's looks great.

I only have 5 lights hooked up right now but they are looking good so far. It is brighter than some shops I have worked in already so when I hook up the other 9 and put the metal on the ceiling it should be great.

I hope your build goes well, I will look forward to seeing it on here.

Here is a little update,
I spent a good part of the summer building a deck and working around the house. I did finish the electrical part of the garage but that was about it. I am back on it now though and will try to get some regular updates coming.

Heres some pics, the deck, the garage loft, exterior light on the garage, and a couple new to me tools for the garage lathe and compressor.

Can you take a photo of the loft from outside the front door of the garage?

How high is it from the floor?

How tall is it inside the loft?

How tall is the center of the roof from the floor?

How wide and long is the loft?

I am building a 30 X 30 soon.

I dont have the door track finished for the vaulted bay so I can not get a pic through that door but here is another pic from the inside.

The loft floor is about 10'5" from the the main floor. It only has a 5' ceiling.

The peak of the vaulted ceiling is 13'3".

The loft is 12' wide and 13'7" long.

Yes I put the big doors on the eve side of the building so that I could fit a 2 post lift in the one bay with the vaulted ceiling and keep the total building height at or under our towns 18' max garage height. I could have tried for a special permit to build a taller garage but this worked out well.

I am planning on building a narrow staircase along the wall.

Probably a 2' wide stairway and then through the 18" wide space between the truss and the wall. The opening will be a little small but it should work. I am using that space for the kids to play so maybe it will end up like the entrance to a big fort.

Here is a pic of the rough opening.
