I started building a new 30X30 Stand alone garage last summer. It is almost done, so I thought I would share:

I found a plan I liked online at Cad Northwest - Custom Home Design, Plan G3030F.

Hired a local Builder, and off we went.

We had to upgrade the power to the property to support a 100 Amp service to the garage. While I was at it we had Natural Gas plumbed into the garage that now feeds the "Hot Dog" unit heater. (with a thermostat I can control from my iPad and iPhone)

The Mancave is a work in progress. I am doing the insulation, drywall, hard wood floor, and installing a heat/air split heat pump system.

I just finished the work bench. It is a Bowling Alley I found on Craigslist and turned into the work bench surface. Picked up some unfinished cabinets at Lowes, and had some custom polished aluminum diamond plate panels made up from "industrial-touch-designs.com" (Wonderful price and service).

This project has been fun, and I am looking forward to finishing it. I just wonder if it will ever really be done! :)

Upstairs will be the Man Cave! It will have heat and air (Mini Split) and is equipped with cable TV and High Speed Internet. I'm still working on the exact layout, but Media Room/Office or Game room comes to mind!

Looks good, I like your work bench/storage area, I have similar space to do mine that way, I might just nick your idea.

Mancve looks decent size too.

Wow this looks like an awesome project. Subcribed to see the DIY work and finished product. If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost and where are you in your life/career? I always wonder how people afford something like this being on the other side - I just bought my first house/garage at age 28 and that was stretch even with a great salary. I guess my question is..can a normal working person ever really afford something like this? Just looking for an honest answer.
