Hello, I'm new here but been reading and gathering great info for a year. Well this spring/ summer i'll be putting up a building. Last fall i had the site prepped and let it settle till i pour the concrete this May. Ok here is my plans(suggestions wanted). 30 wide 40 deep with 10 foot side walls. 16x 12 garage door on the gable end and a 8x8 in the back side wall. So i'll have 8over 6/12 scissor trusses to accommodate the 12 ft tall door. This truss will span the first 30 ft then go to regular trusses for the last 10ft. 5 3x3 windows and two service doors. Metal roof vinyl siding. Interior; insulate ,osb paint white, sub panel, modine, future 2 post lift. Shop will be used for lawn mowers, 4wheelers,snowmobile,golfcart, vehicle maintenance. Some wood projects and whatever else comes along. I will be doing the build myself with friends and family.Any thoughts?

Welcome rustzuk,
Sounds like your going to be pretty busy this summer, if it ever gets here. All we need now is a little warm weather to dry things out.

Never seen a bucket truck used for pouring concrete before

Jim

Only a guess, but I think they might use it to set the finish machine on the slab?

Looks good rust. Mind if I ask what part of the state you're in?

Taller!
I built a 32x48x10 and had another shop with 11.5' ceiling with lift. At first I thought the 14' on our current one was overwhelming but now I wouldn't want it any shorter. It is so nice to be able to stand on/in the back of a truck/tractor and not worry about hitting the ceiling.

Correct, they used the bucket truck to get the finishing machine on the slab. Well with the scissor truss the ceiling will be 13'3", should be plenty tall for anything i need.
I'm located 35min west of Green Bay.

Sweet! Keep going, and keep those pictures coming.

You asked for our thoughts - OSB often starts to peel as it's painted. The thin strips absorb the moisture from the paint, and then peel away. I'm not saying it falls apart, but it can be frustrating to have nice smooth walls, then paint them and watch them get bubbly/wavy.

Good luck!

Very nice building, Rustzuk. I'm doing something VERY similar this summer in the Armstrong Creek area. Other than wall/door height, I'll have a very similar layout.

Do you have more photos to share? It looks like you did 2x6 walls. I'm still contemplating 2x6 or 2x4. Where did you get your lumber from?

I went with 2x6 walls, it was about 500 bucks more than 2x4's. I'm glad I did because it seems so much stronger , especially when setting the trusses. I got most of the materials from Wilhelm Lumber in Pholx, WI. They were cheaper than the 3 other places I got quotes from including Menards. I ordered the trusses from Wisconsin building supply.

We set the trusses on Saturday and started the OSB on the roof. We would of finished but the storms rolled in. We only have about 10 sheets left.

Very nice! And thanks for the details. Can't wait to see the continued progress and what you choose for exterior treatments.

Not bad for 3 weekends so far. Over half of the siding is done, windows and doors are in, soffit started, and roof sheeted.

I got a roof today. And it looks great, although I can't take any credit for it. I hired an Amish neighbor to do the work. 3 adults and 2 kids did the job in 4 hours. Installed the 12x16 garage door. Started installing the 8x8 garage door and noticed they sent me a 8x7 bummer. But we still got a lot done.
