30x40x12 new build.
2x 10x10 insulated doors (r13)
1x 36 man door
Builders will be installing solar-r- eclipse on roof and walls (i know some hate it....) claimed r12.82 roof r10.6 walls.
This will be kind of a print/laser/jeep/woodwork/hobby shop that I hope to turn to a fulltime shop for woodworking and my offroad toys, if I can ever get past some recent medical problems where I can actually work again (seizures keep me from driving on the road and running equipment/tools at this time, I'm fortunate that I've gotten them down to about every 3 weeks).
This will not be heated and cooled full time, but I will have the diesal forced air (140k) and a wood stove for heat and a couple portable rolling ac units for the times when I need to cool it a bit.
My original plan was to call the sol-r-eclipse good and enclose with osb walls and ceiling just like you would a normal garage.
Is that enough insulation in this case? I guess I've started questioning how this thin aluminum backed/ white vinyl stuff gives the same insulation factor as fiberglass batt.
Should a put a ceiling in using osb, or would i be ok simply leaving it open? I see benefits to both. Doesn't really matter to me, but I can see it being brighter with the white side of the sol-r-eclipse insulation down, aluminum side top the metal. I have thought of putting the ceiling in and spraying cellulose myself in the "attic" area, but not heating and cooling full time is the juice worse the squeeze?
