30x40x14 Reward

Well after months of planning and reading through this great forum I am excited to say the least that construction has begun on my personal reward .

Currently building a 30x40x14 Mueller building with 2 bay doors and 1 walk door. Figured i'd share even though it is just "another" shop being put up, however I can't wait as I have some plans including a lift and a nice workbench area.

Now if the rain can stop and the temperature warm up a bit we should pour the foundation on Tuesday.

Replacing links with actual photos.

Anyone in the DFW area remember or know what their pump truck for cement cost? I am little bit irratated that after receiving quotes from 3 different contractors and taking the middle one due to personal reference he mistakenly forgot to include the pump truck costs in the concrete work. If that wasn't enough he is almost double what the price was from one of the other original quotes.

As for rough layout plans see attached.

The list I have which will come in stages are:

1) Back right hand corner will be 10x15 approximate "Lab" for a cleaner work environment enclosed
2) Being plumbed for a sink
2) four post lift for storage of my toys
3) 2 post lift 9K for working area
4) Plumbed air with four outlets

Sounds like you have a great plan, I too have a 30x40 shop very workable size.

Cant they just bring the truck down the side? Yard will be tore up but the grass will grow back. Might need to back fill the ruts? Or they could buggy the concrete in. IMHO, the signed contract should spell out how the concrete would be poured. I dont see why the price should be going up. Concrete amount is basic math.

That was the option either run up the side and tear up the grass but would've had to wait until the ground was dried up. Or do the pump truck, the contractor admitted he made a mistake and asked if we could split the cost to go ahead and get it done or else we would just wait. Obviously I didn't want to wait.

Rain finally stopped long enough to get the concrete poured last week. After 10 days of curing construction of the building started earlier today.

I'm in the DFW area and if you don't mind may I ask who you had put the building up? Was it a contractor that M suggested when you purchased the building? I'm getting ready to build my 30x40 and I'm just weighing all the options..

Dlwfish - It was one of the recommended. There was some pros and cons throughout the process. In the end it was overall ok. If you send me a PM and i'll give you some more info and contact info if you'd like.

Faster346 - Sorry I had a limited amount of time... Lights are in and garage door openers are installed (Lift master 8500) along with ethernet lines run. In the coming months before the end of the year. Had some things come up that took priority unfortunately.

Plans:
1) Finish walls in 60/40 split drywall and corrugated (Tentative)
2)Build 14x10 room with storage on top (Dec '16)
3) 2 post Lift Installation (Dec '16)
4) 4 Post lift (2017)

We have pretty much the same building, I opted to not get the bubble type insulation, wondering how hot does your shop get in the summer?

It stays 5-10 cooler until around 3-4 ish in the afternoon then it is almost equal. I plan on putting a 4 unit split system in eventually.

You got a much better deal on your slab..... Any pics for how you finished yours out?

Been finally getting around to some items on the inside. Told myself I couldn't get my lifts until I complete the drywall.
