Just found this site the other day. Thought I might like to share my project. Ive been dreaming of having my own shop for 15 years or more since I was 15. Originally wanted a 40x60 but with current layout, and finances. It just wasn't feasible at this time and I couldn't wait any longer with a baby on the way. I bought my house and property about 3 years ago. It came with a 20x30 garage that has seen better days. It was in pretty poor shape when I first moved in but I've made a few repairs and it's served its purpose. I've honestly just outgrown it now.

Here is my original drawing.

The lean to will go where my current garage is now. With the new building built to the left of the garage. More pictures to come shortly.

Then insulation

And lighting. I found some old 8' fixtures. Cleaned them up and straight wired them for some leds I found on amazon. I only have 2 mounted so far. Will have 10 total.

I am currently trying to figure out what I'm going to do on the floor. That's how I stumbled on this site. I also plan on covering the interior wall with metal up to atleast 7 feet, possibly 12'.

Damn, you don't mess around! What is the actual time span from day one?

Welcome to the forum!

Appreciate it. The building was ordered the first of October. I started grading mid October. Concrete was poured mid November. The building was delivered December 8th and the erectors were done by the 11th.:willy_nil Needless to say I was pretty stressed during that time. Been planning it out since I bought the house though. I originally was planning on doing a 40X60 after tearing down the current garage, but I didn't want to be dealing with where to put everything in the meantime. So this is the best I could come up with.

Glad I found this site. Already found several good ideas. Just need some more money now.

welcome. You got a great garage start. Hope you are able to get the flooring questions answered. I wish I had done mine when we moved in 20 years ago.

Thanks. I originally planned on doing epoxy but that's just more money than I can spend right now. I'm leaning towards just sealing the concrete. I would prefer it to be gloss or semi gloss with a chemical and oil resistance. One other option I found another person had done on here was laying a densifier and then putting a high traffic floor wax on top of it. I had to step away from it yesterday. I was getting overwhelmed trying to figure out what I would prefer.

Been a little while since I've gotten to do much on the shop. Wanted to post an update since I finished installing the lights. I believe I have decided on a floor finish but still not a 100% sure. I'm leaning towards legacy's hd40, but also thinking about just doing ghostshield and a densifier. Any input would be appreciated.
