Ok, it's about time I started one of these. I am pretty serious about making a halfway decent tinkering shop to mess around in and these last few weeks I've gone all out. This will also cover new tool/equipment arrivals and generally anything related to improving my work/relaxation space. It won't be as exciting to you guys as a proper garage build but this is more of a way for me to look back in time and see how far things have come.

This is what I started with, and that's all the stuff going to the dump that's in the back of the truck:

This is all the recently acquired equipment that will need a place. The vise stand came with an old smaller Record I sold. Painted it, filled the base with concrete and mounted my No6 Irwin Record with one bolt, for now. The parts washer tank was full of sludge, now cleaned and fresh Varsol installed. The drill press also got a nice cleaning and it looks much better now! It's an older Rockwell and it runs true, I love that thing.

Everything in its temporary spot, that bench will not be there for long. Just had to keep everything there while I sold other things in order to make room. Slowly getting there!

This was the centrepiece of everything. Workbench was built by me and sold in order to make room for the snappy box to come in the next post.

After much waiting, it finally arrived! It's much bigger than expected and it's plain awesome. Got a great deal for it.

Yeah, the box was a package deal. Also came with tools and if you subtract all the extras it was about 1.5k for the box

where in the world did you get the innis and gunn cooler? Easily my favorite beer, don't meet many other that have even heard of it.

I won it at a draw at a liquor store. It just so happens to be my favourite beer as well, can't get enough! I have also seen the exact same box in either blue or red with a Coke or Pepsi logo. No idea who makes them.

Over the last week I managed to score some 3/4 socket sets. Both are SAE.

The first is a Westward and it is in like-new condition. The box suffered some abuse but the tools themselves were maybe used once or twice. This was 100 CAD.

The second set is a mix match of name brand sockets. Lots of Proto, Gray, Industro, Stahlwille, etc. Apart from one or two Westward sockets and the one German socket they are all either USA or Canadian made. Proto 3/4 ratchet, Wright T-handle and extensions. The 2nd ratchet and T-handle are Taiwan. I could not help myself and it bugs me to no end that they are not all the same brand but for $150 I could not pass this one up!

Now I need to find a big *** metric set to add to the collection.

I just got the last piece of my shrine in the mail today. It's a vinyl Snap-On banner over 6 feet long and it will be placed in the empty space above the tool box. Too tired to do it tonight so it will have to wait until tomorrow. I just love this kind of stuff, a garage is not a proper garage without some decoration!

I need to find something cool and not terribly expensive to fill up the spots between the speakers. Any ideas?

Yes I do, maybe one of these days. That is a monitor I was about to throw out, I use it to hook it up to my laptop as a second screen mostly to read manuals.

Time for an update. I knocked quite a few things off my "want list" since the last update and I think I got some smoking deals in there (although not all). This is all stuff I got from classifieds and all the prices are in CAD.

- Greenlee knockout punches, 2 sets (2 styles of punches) with some extras
- OTC 9 way slide hammer set and a 7 ton puller set, never used both for $100
- Snap On metric flare nut socket set
- First gen Fluke 87 true RMS meter for $50! The screen didn't work well but that was a 5 minute fix with some contact cleaner

I ended up with another tool box today. It is an older Beach box and it will be used to store everything from hardware to sandpaper to accessories for my shop tools. The steel top is DIY and welded on. It has a few dents and scratches and it is quite dirty but I think it will clean up in excellent condition. Some of the friction slides are tough to move but a real good cleaning and waxing should do the trick. This will replace my other smaller boxes which will get sold. I am pretty excited about this project, can't wait to get started on it tomorrow afternoon. Forgot to mention that this sucker is also HEAVY. Crazy heavy for its size. I would guess around the 350lb mark and it's not a big box. Only 46" wide and not very deep. The tiny little grinder on top will be thrown away, it is a safety hazard.

Got an entire bag of wrenches for $75 CAD. Check out what I found inside! The pics do the talking better but the highlights are:

- Snap On made in Canada complete wrench set of 12 from 11/32 all the way up to 1" (mixed years but who cares???)
- Snap On C90 pouch with midget SAE wrenches, missing oneP
- 4 or 5 Gray Canada maple leaf wrenches with some other USA brands that make up a nearly complete set including 2x Blue Point, one Bonney V opening
- Complete set of 12 Fairmount offset wrenches, up just past an inch
- Blue Point Supreme double open end, mixed years but I think there are 7 wrenches there
- Old style MAC ratcheting offset wrenches, set of 4 (including the straight non-reversible one)
- Mopar with 2x Herbrand open end wrenches
- Pattern USA set of 5 angled open end wrenches

Everything in there was either USA or Canada made.

Dont throw it away send it to me. I need a case for one of mine that grinder is an exact match.

It was all messed up man, the entire thing is was so twisted it barely turned. Damage due to shipping of the box, it was heavy and it was dark. I just hand bombed it in the back of my truck with lots of ignorance. The only contact point on one corner was that grinder. I threw it out :(

What's the pipe contraption

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Thought someone would ask, haha! It's a simulator racing cockpit in progress. The frame is all done and I have the seat to mount to it. Need to mount the wheel and pedals and shifter too. I made it specifically for Dirt Rally.

Moved some things around and managed to get a 50 ton press for $150. It was a beast to unload off the truck and move into position with just a friend and myself but it's over now. Needs seals for the jack but that's about it!
