I already have the doors. I'm hoping the door company shows up tomorrow or the next day. I'm ready to move on to the concrete and get this thing wired. I am definitely impressed with the builders.

Hey Triple

I am in New Market near harrisonburg... Who did you contact to put up your pole barn?? How was it priced?

Thanks

I got the building from diy pole barns. You can configure it any way you want and the price will vary. If you go on their website it has a feature where you can design it and get an instant price quote.

I hung a few lights and hooked them up temporarily just to see what it looked like. This is with three lights on. I have ten but I think I'm gonna hang nine.

A little more progress this past week. Garage doors are hung and concrete prep is done. The pour should take place tomorrow. Gutters should be installed Wednesday.

T0B: i was just reading a few garage threads and going to see where you were at. garage doors look great and did you install them yourself?

what did you settle on for depth of cement floor 4 or 5 or 6 inch thick? i see a heat wave on your side of the county so will it be in 50's and 60's in your area? those temps are almost perfect for pouring and drying cement, but if it dips down below 40 i think blankets or at least plastic might be a good idea. does the cement guy guarantee cement floor won't crack?

The doors were installed by Apple Doors. The floor will be six inches and the concrete guy is a 40 year veteran so I just told him to do what he does best. I think it will be above 40 for a few days so we should be in good shape.

T0B: looking good. Are you going to have same guys pour a cement pad in front of the garage or is asphalt planned for that area?

They're coming back after the Holidays to do the pad in front. It's coming along but I still have a bunch of stuff to do once the slab hardens.....

T0B: i know you have probably have a plan, but if you need ideas on insulation, interior finishes, electrical, lighting and all the other goodies left to do you might spend time reading other members threads in this section and also in the other sections where the threads are pretty informative.

good luck and hope the floor turns out awesome.

Merry Christmas and what a great present to yourself you are building. :)

Snapped this pic this morning as I was leaving for work. They worked until 10:30 last night.

They came back and sealed it today.

I will stay off of it until next week and then get back on finishing the wiring.

Question.. Did you put a stone base down before pouring your floor? I may have missed that post glancing through.. if so what did you use?

They call it 21 A'S around here. It's a mix of stone and dirt and it compacts really tight. They use it for base under road construction, parking lots....

Wife got me a little tool box for Christmas.

Hung out with my Dad in the garage this morning and drank the first garage beer and moved a couple of things in.

T0B: nicely done again with the floor. hard to believe it was ready to walk on and move stuff into in 4 days this time of year.

i bet your Dad enjoyed the beer almost as much as your garage?

have a great Christmas

Got the all the lights hung and wired permanently. Also put up a motion light above the walk in door.

I think I will relax and watch football for the rest of the day.:beer:

T0B: at the rate you are going i half expected you to have the garage fully insulated. the lights look great.

I think you said the cement guys were coming back to pour the pad in front of the garage this week or was that after new years?

looks great. is the floor still crack free?
