32x30 Stick Built Racecar Shop

Been doing research ever sense we bought our first house three years ago. We broke ground in January after some very spirited conversation with the local building authorities.
Initial thought was to try and build bigger (35x40 ish pole barn), but the contractor and myself were shut down by the county. We "settled" on a 32x30 stick built shop. The intention is to work on racecars, build fun stuff, and general car maintenance.

That is the current racecar that will be worked on in the garage.

A few more details that I left out.

Initial plans is to make two "bays" with the garage doors and install a 12K lift on the left hand side. Without doing much research, we placed 2 6’x6’ pads that are 6" thick and the rest of the floor is 4”

Siding has started! Roof and siding should match the house.

Love stick builds. I get the pole barn thing but nothing beats a stick built garage chassis.

Lookin Great! Lots of light. What are your plans for the ceiling? Did you use scissor trusses for more clearance for your lift?

Had a few friends stop by last night and we finished the walls in OSB. I plan to finish screwing them today and hope to get primer or paint on the walls this week. I'll post pics later today or tomorrow.

Nice looking shop. Should make for a nice home based race shop.

My shop at my last house was only 34'x34' and we campaigned our racing out of it for 25+ years. It eventually turned into a one-car shop because I filled it up with more tools and equipment that started to overcome the size but we did a LOT of work out of that shop as well as ran a side business (speed shop) for 20 of those years.

Oh, nice! I would suggest every other panel being the perforated acoustic panels. Keeps the building from echoing.

More Updates.

Painted the walls, covered the ceiling in metal, and upgraded the T12 fixtures to LED.

It's just about done and ready to do fun stuff instead of working on it.

It's not that bad yet. I ended up doing it 100% in the metal instead of taking your advice (I wasn't getting emails on the replies).
