Does anyone on here happen to have any 32x48x12 (or similiar) shop/garage plans? Or does any one know of a good free website where i could make my own up? I have looked on here and I havent seen much mention of any plans. I know, I know, i have a buddy (non garage working buddy) that says its four wall two doors and a roof, but to me its much more than that. Let me know if anybody has some plans or knows a good website. thanks guys

Depending on your location it may need different design features. Need to understand what you local building requirements are.

My local building department did not require that I had actual plans for my 24x40x12 garage/shop. It was a rectangle. It has 24' trusses on 2x6 framed walls.
They just specified how much corner blocking they wanted, inspected each phase from foundation to rough plumbing to slab to framing, siding, electrical, etc. As long as each element was done to current local/national codes, they were happy.

There are dozens of sites that sell plans for all kinds of garages. I don't know of any free ones.

The first thing that I would do is go to your county building department and see what they require for zoning, property line offsets, pad requirements, code for design, etc. Knowing what they want can make you more aware of the pitfalls before you start.

My house was built before the area had a building dept. (1992). Now you need zoning, perc tests, pad engineering, seismic and wind load calcs, structural framing calcs, so on.

I know what I'm in for so no surprises.

Why not just find a local drafter. When I went through a lot of stock style plans in books or Menards project center and didn't find what I wanted. I went to a local guy that did drafting and it cost me $250 to have drawn up with 2 large copies and 5 or 6 small ones I could give out when getting bids.

There are a lot of stock plans out there. Your local library will have multiple books with plans or plans that you can send away for. Your local big box store will usually have plans in books and if you have a Menards store close a computer to make you own plans. This will only work if you don't have real specific ideas for what you need. The building I built was just far enough away from a stock plan it had to be custom drawn up. It looks pretty standard from the outside but the inside is layed out a lot different than most garages because I wanted height for a lift and storage above. It's a little tricky to get both with stock plans.
