Pretty good deal. I bought the one from HF and use it all the time, it has a light and top shelf which I also use and are very handy. Only thing with the HF one is the drawers are garbage, almost not usable. It was 80 bucks with a coupon.

This is not the same as the workbench sold at HF.

The one from HF has a top shelf and reasonably nice light.
Lowes sells a similar-looking workbench, but one on clearance sale is not that model. This is a much more basic workbench, with no top shelf, no light and a single full-width drawer.

Make certain that you see it in person before deciding to that it's acceptable for you. I saw that price just before Thanksgiving, and took only a few seconds to decide that it was significantly too flimsy for me. I would much rather buy a second HF workbench for only slightly more.

You could fix part of the light construction by bolting the workbench, and especially the metal pegboard, to a rigid wall, but it is more difficult to make the very wide drawer rigid enough to use.

I got this one from lowes or home depot a few years back. black, single drawer, upper shelf but no light. pretty flimsily Think I paid 30 or so because it was on clearance at the time.

I had a similar one I bought a few years ago as well on HD clearance for ~$30. Its now been replaced with a bench I made out of scrap 2x4s, a sheet of birch and an old piece of countertop. Cost me about $20 for the birch ply since it was out of the menards junk lumber bin for only having one messed up side. The old bench had a hammer go through the cheap wood top that comes with these. I wouldn't recommend unless you just need something to help organize or use for small parts disassembly.

ive seen the hf workbench in stores and this kobalt. no light or upper shelf, but the kobalt hands down. it has a real toolbox type drawer on roller bearings. its still lightweight, but the hf is half the quality, imo and twice the price.

not to bad for people tight on space or need something on a budget. for 70 bucks ive thought about cutting it apart and putting the drawer section under the top of my welding table for supplies.

I agree, there's 2 versions, a light duty one and a better made one. Not sure which one this is, but I scored one for $10 at a yard sale. I use it for my reloading bench. Very high quality and sturdy, ball bearing drawers, light, etc. guy who sold it put it together wrong and thought it was junk. Ones I have seen for $99 or more are much thinner metal and cheaply made. I think the good ones are closer to $200...

Edit - I see that one is missing the top shelf and light...looks like the light duty version.

If you were near chicago I would sell you another for $10. Mines just taking up precious space in my garage. (The broken wood has since been replaced ;) )

I found that it was actually easier to build my own from scrap then it was to assemble this.
