I love the whiteboard. I think I'll have a local glass shop cut me a nice big sheet with some mounting holes. Then just spray the back white. Wonder if it will work.

Hmm. . .

Well I finally got around to replacing the whiteboard that I hung next to the door. I used the whiteboard to record todo lists, oil change mileage on my vehicles, and load lists for when I go racing.

My wife bought me a tempered sheet of glass that is etched on one side and drilled at each corner from the local glass shop. We found some stainless steel standoffs on the Internet and got it hung.

This is what the old whiteboard looked like.

...snip...

Here is the new one.

...snip..

Have you tried putting a flourescent light on the top and/or bottom. I'll bet the markers show up better.

That 'white board' is almost an art piece; very nice of your wife! I'd be tempted to highlight/backlight it with LED striplights or maybe even a neon rectangle bordering the back periphery. The back lighting might make the notes standout; reminiscent of the edge-lit plexi-glass status boards they use on modern day CIC centers of US Navy warships.

WOW, what a make-over. Both your house, garage, and storage shed look top-notch. Very good use of space and your own ideas to make it work for you.

Amazing - once again the bar is set so high I have no hope of reaching it.... I will continue to muddle through. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm going to put some white board paint on the wall - for my use - up at my eye level, and put some chalk board paint underneath - for my son to doodle on.

Love the cars as well! What are the specs on your BBC?

The BBC is a 632 CID. Merlin block, Crower crank, Dart Pro1 conventional heads, Comp Cams, FAST EFI, Jesel shaft rockers and belt drive, Moroso vacuum pump.

Its time to spruce up the paint booth doors. Right now they are a metal frame with OSB screwed on one side.

I want to add another filter and a window to each door.

Here is a before shot:

The first order of business is to remove the OSB and cut off the existing hinges. Those hinges didn't have a removable pin so it makes it hard to remove the doors if need be.

I welded on one half of a standard door hinge on three places along the side of each door.

I am going to cover both sides of the frame with thin smooth plywood so I made a template and cutout the openings on each piece.

Next I am adding nailer boards between the steel frame to attach the plywood and trim.

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

I'm continuing with the booth doors. I am going to put a window in each door so I built a frame for a piece of plexiglass that will be inserted in it.

CIMG2585_zpsa5cbbeda.jpg

I sandwiched the metal frame with clear plywood and notched 1x4's.

CIMG2592_zpse52b8ab5.jpg

The diagonal brace in the door presented a unique challenge.

CIMG2593_zps36d3a9e7.jpg

Lots of cutting notching and clamping.

CIMG2598_zpsb345f718.jpg

I built in a back stop to hold the filters in place.

CIMG2601_zps3a18fb9a.jpg

All Primed and ready for paint.

As requested I will post some pics of the paint booth ventilation system.

This is the blower mounted on the wall outside of the booth. It takes in air from the side coming from the duct work and blows it up into the attic space.

CIMG2779_zpsffc95ef0.jpg

There is a large (~15") diameter tube installed in the attic to direct the air outside.

A custom made linkage allows operation of a closable louver mounted on the outside wall. A rod goes down into the shop and is used to operate the linkage. Pulling down on the rod opens the louver. Pushing up closes it. The rod is an old golf club handle.

This is the louver in the closed position.

The paint booth is mostly a storage room right now but with the completion of my storage shed, I hope to clean a lot of stuff out of here so it can double as a metal working area and paint booth when necessary.

The duct is nothing more than your typical house heating vent duct with openings cut into it.

CIMG2781_zpsd81ddc1c.jpg

I need to find a better way to mount the filter elements. I stuck an element that I had in the opening temporarily. It is too small for the opening, but you get the idea.

pmilin, would you be so kind and tell us what paint brand, type, and color number/names you used on the walls, trim, etc.?

I am going to be painting my garage soon and am very much inspired by the palette you've used.

Thanks much!

Paint came from HomeDepot but the colors are from Sherwin Williams

Lower walls: Fashionable Gray SW6275
Upper walls: Special Gray SW6277
Trim: Cloak Gray SW6278
Stripe: pure white

The paint was called Behr satin premium plus I think.

Looks even better with the rock work and everything is coming together nicely. Sad to see the Impala crashed I love those thing but the rail should be fast, I am just partial to door slammers though. Checked out the storage shed it is awesome as well.
