Well I have been lurking for some time getting some great ideas. I figure its time I post my barn rehab. I bought the house back in February with a very neglected post frame barn in the back yard. Take a look and tell me what you think.

Looking good, tons of potential there! I figured the siding looked too rough to save.

Curious as to why the original owner poured the slab beyond the pole perimeter. Had they poured it flush with the poles, would have kept the water out.
If it was me, I would consider renting a concrete saw and cut out the excess.

Very nice! Will be watching the re-build. Wood or metal for the sides?

Using metal siding with a wainscoting look.

I have been wondering the same thing the whole time I have had the barn and have definitely weighed my options. Right now I am going to stick with the way it is.

Looks like you're on the right track.

What are your plans regarding siding, interior planning, etc...?]

Right now I have gas, electric, water and communications run to the barn. I plan on running a wall down the middle of the barn and creating a heated shop and a non heated side.

finishing up the soffit and fascia this weekend and will be moving to the interior shortly.

Impressive would LOVE to have a shop that size! Looks like you really know what you are doing, too! Gonna watch this one as it progresses. Nice job on the photos of progress too!

Great improvement!!!! Keep the photos coming, looking good!!!

Have one question. If you went to the trouble of house wraping the building, why didn't you tape the seems?

You did seal around the windows. Just wondering

Great improvement!!!! Keep the photos coming, looking good!!!

Have one question. If you went to the trouble of house wraping the building, why didn't you tape the seems? To be honest I had about 15 people over helping me out with the barn that day. So in the chaos the tape happened to get missed.

You did seal around the windows. Just wondering
Yes all the windows are sealed.

Great save and total transformation on an old structure. Love the two-tone corrugated steel siding - - - looks like a high-dollar Morton Steel building now! The windows really add value and love the lights by the entrances.

I'd sure vote to plan on insulating the whole thing since you're in Michigan. Maybe you can get a good deal on spray foam or a bargain somewhere on bat insulation. With just the steel siding and Tyvek, I think you'll have trouble with wind blowing right in.

Keep the pics coming and good luck!

I live near Mansfield, Ohio and there are lots of metal pole building here, I have built 5 of them myself and I must say your windows look:thumbup: great!!!

Metal pole buildings in my area don't get treated as nicely as you have done, great work. (With nice windows) I know they don't help with the heat but they do make the place look very nice and a lot more expensive
