Starting this thread to keep track of my new build. It will be 36x40x16 with 2- 12x14 doors. Here it is after day 1. Hired an amish crew out of indiana. It's amazing what a 3 man crew can accomplish in a day.

That's a well proportion structure. I wish I could have gone 16' high but zoning restrictions meant it would have cost an additional grand and hearings ect, so I opted to build the max. of 14' and just reduced the pitch to a 3/12.

Are they pouring the floor also?

CLB: welcome to GJ and thanks for sharing.

i'm not sure i've seen that kind of supports under the outside perimeter before. are those made out of cement and did they use sonotubes or do tell?

is the floor going to be up near the height where the wood timbers start or why is it raised so high.

looks like the guys are doing great work. so they don't use power tools or do tell?

Nice size choice, what are the plans for the inside?

Plan to rough in the slab for electric and plumbing first. Which will then be followed by concrete. Plan to insulate the walls and hang metal as well as I find time. Still undecided on what to use for heat.

What they pouring the floor also?

I only had them build the structure. I already have someone to pour the floor.

No sonotubes, it's a concrete permacolumn with laminated 2x6's attached. They did not have the bottom row of boards on yet which will be closer to the ground and used also as the concrete floor forms. I ran a cord for power for them and they used it to charge batteries and for their air compressor. All their tools were battery powered except for nail guns.

Next up will be moving topsoil and getting gravel hauled in to finish the driveway.

CLB: i'll have to GOOGLE "PERMACOLUMN" so I can understand just what you just for your support columns. i'm guessing you picked these because they last longer than treated wood?

man that was quick and looks like you'll have a dry space before winter weather shows up.

nicely done!!

I was able to get some gravel spread outside and the floor roughed in for electric and plumbing over the weekend.

Was finally able to get power run to the barn. Ended up running a 100A feed off the panel in the house. Also ran 1" for future internet/cable. Got the gutters installed and trenched in downspouts and floor drains.

Had some time to get the floor prepped and with the help of some buddies was able to get the concrete poured.
