I'm new to the forum. I figured I would do a thread on my build as it happens. So far, only the site prep is started.

Its been raining here in southern michigan for the last 5-6 days. So no more progress to report.

Heres a few more details on my barn
36*56*12, 4/12, pitch, storage space trusses, wainscotting, 1 ft overhangs on all sides boxed in soffits, 2 10*12 insulated overhead doors one on each gable end, 1 36 inch man door, 2 double pane windows, 4 inch concrete with mesh. 1 floor drain in middle of shop.

I believe I'm getting a screaming deal. Amish crew to build and contract is signed for 22,076. I have do do my own site prep and pull my permits. I should be able to do the whole thing for just over 24,000. I was curious what others have paid in the past for a similar build?

That seems awfully cheap with the doors and concrete included! Wish I had got out that cheap!

Yeah, thats what I thought. Ill post full invoice and pics if you guys are interested. The next cheapest quote I got was for 21000 without concrete. Guy said add 2.95 square foot for howevermuch concrete I wanted.

So, maybe it wasn't such a good deal after all... I need some advice on how to deal with my contractor. The metal siding on my barn is very poorly installed. Lots of scratched up j channel, bent and buckled pannels, screws in the wrong place. I only owe this guy another 3500. What is the best way to handle this situation? I spoke with him today and told him to not do any more work until we r on the same page. I Imagine hes not going to be happy about redoing the metal work. Any advice on how to deal with poor workmanship?

They came back today and fixed and finished the metal work. The only things left now are the concrete and overhead doors. That might be two weeks out.

Glad to hear the contractor fixed the metal work. I'm sure you'd prefer that it be done correctly the first time, but the main thing is to get it right in the end. If that's the only issue you run into, I'd say you came out alright.
