Bought this in early 2022 from Green Valley Compressor in Keller, TX. At the time (still recovering from the Covid slow down), just about everything I had considered from vendors like Home Depot, Lowes, HF, etc. was out of stock. The guy at the store called the Puma company to see what they had, and turns out they found two of these 2021 models somewhere in a warehouse.

At only 40 gallons, this one may be too small for many of you, but it's the largest compressor I've ever owned. It's also very quiet, and seems to turn slowly compared to the inexpensive big-box store compressors with side-by-side cylinders. And it's much quieter than the 20-year-old DeVilbiss Charge Air it will replace.

Almost forgot to say that there is virtually no vibration. It's sitting on rubber/wood sandwiched pads that are NOT bolted to the floor, as per the compressor store's instructions.

This PK-6040V model is no longer made, but there is a 60 (or 80?) gallon version. There's also a 2-stage 3-cylinder version with a 40 gallon tank.

I haven't totally moved into my new shop yet, so haven't used the compressor very much, but just wanted to give a shout out to Puma and Green Valley Compressor. Quality product. Quality store.

Nice looking compressor. What's thr FLA rating on the motor at 240 volts?

Motor tag specifies amps at 208 and 230 volts, which I assume is FLA. So, that would equate to around 12.2 amps @ 240 volts, right?

Yeah, I was thinking it might be a good option for someone who has 240 power but maybe only a 20 amp circuit, like for a washer drier.

I'm running it off a 240volt/20amp circuit, which is actually around 248-249 volts. Wire gauge is 12. The 3-cylinder 5.0 hp version requires a 30 amp circuit.

The two-stage 40-gal would be a considerable upgrade from my old Craftsman (DeVilbiss) 20 gal unit. What are the dimensions on yours?

The assumption is 240V is the unloaded voltage while 230V is the line voltage when subjected to a load. Use the 230V number.

Yep, got mine in 2017. Wanted a 2 stage so had to settle for smaller tank for the $. So quiet and was able to keep up with blast cabinet, painting and tools.

Sorta wished I had bought a 5hp two-stage, but it was several hundred dollars more, and my shop was already wired with 12-gauge.

Anyway, mine does have the highest CFM ratings of any compressor I've ever had, which the charts say are good for a cut-off wheel and medium size die grinder.
