3HP Puma Air Compressor Wiring Question

I have a 3HP Puma air compressor model# PK 6060V
The motor draws 15 amps @ 230V & the owners manual states to allow an extra 10% power capacity for start up conditions.

I currently have the compressor connected to an old 3-wire 30 amp outlet, But I'm in the process of putting in a 60 amp 4-wire sub panel!

Given the motor's current draw, Would this compressor run ok on a dedicated 20 amp circuit?

Also what's the correct way to wire the 230V motor with a 4-wire feed?
I'm going to be running EMT conduit, So would I just leave out the white neutral wire?

Doug

Did it come with a cord and plug? if so its probably a nema 6-20p and thus needs a 20a circuit.

A 230v motor does not need a neutral. it needs 2 hots and a ground. since youre using EMT(must be continuous from panel to j box), you can skip the ground wire as long as you use a ground pigtail from the metal box to the outlet if its not self grounding.

No it didn't come with a power cord or plug!
I have it temporary connected to a old unused 30 amp dryer outlet.

I knew that was the case with 120V wiring, But I wasn't sure about using the EMT as a ground with 230V.

Thanks Doug

Where does the dryer outlet connect to?

It's connected to the main panel!

I basically took a unused dryer outlet & extended it into my garage with some 10 gauge UF-B wire.

I recently ran some 1" PVC conduit out to the garage & I pulled 4 wires (6 AWG THHN/THWN-2) I'll be adding a 60 amp sub panel in the garage.
