3M 7500 Respirator

Just wanted to take some time to state how much I love the 3M 7500 mask. Comfortable to wear and it is amazing how much better it is than the disposable dust masks.

I used it while painting a bathroom and it did an excellent job blocking the paint fumes. In addition, I used it while sanding (and sanding, and sanding) some patched and mudded drywall. All I can say is that I don't know why I didn't buy one of these things sooner. No drywall dust in my nose! About $35 from amazon with the filters and worth every penny.

disposable masks are a joke

I use 3m 3200 for dust , grinding,sanding and lawn mowing , the filters are 10c/pc or so

no need to use an expensive filter cartridge for non toxic/harmful dust, it will just clog it

Much prefer Drager or North over 3M. Have half and full face of all three manufacturers, the full face Drager is where its at when your life depends on it.

ETA: a few words of advice since I used to live in these things:

• Cartridges are only good for one "shift" - They go in the trash after every use as a homeowner
• KEEP THE MASK CLEAN
• if it gets any kind of funk to it, it goes in the dumpster
• don't use triple stacks for dust/mist/fumes
• don't use organic vapor cartridges for dust/mist/fumes
• don't use inorganic vapor cartridges for dust/mist/fumes
• don't use acid gas cartridges as a home owner. EVER.
• Buy a box (or three) of plain old P100 filters, 90% of what you are going to use it for as a home owner will be covered by these unless you run an automotive paint shop out of your garage

I love my 3M mask as well. Works great.

Just bought and started using a 3M 6800 full facemask for home use (overhead sanding, spray foam etc.).

Not qualified to compare vs. alternative brands, but it is sure an improvement over trying to juggle respirator and eye protection, and increases the effective filtering by a good amount.

Well worth the $120 and worlds better than the disposable masks.

Full-face is built-in eye protection. Also consider a powered air purifying respirator.
For those of you spraying paint, these are fine for old-school enamels and lacquers, but NONE of the air-purifying respirators are adequate for modern catalyzed paints.

Love mine too! I bought it with the quick release latch so I don't have to talk through my respirator. Just a quick pull on the latch and I can talk/breathe normally. Pull it back up and it's back to business. Can wear it for hours with no problem!

The vent that directs your exhalation down (instead of up into your safety glasses like most others) is a huge help too. No more foggy safety glasses while using it!

Yes a million times better than any fuzzy dust mask.

I use the 2097 P100 which is also good for nuisance level organic vapors. Helps with odors from solvents and paints.

2097 or 2297 (same as the before, but is supposed to be easier to breathe through and I think last longer) depending on which one I can find for a good price at the time.

Sloper, can you explain this advice? I have a bunch of 3M cartridge and PAPR masks and while I use P100 filters for grinding/dust, I have used the other types you mention for various things that involve heat and various types of fumes. Why would you avoid them?
