Looking at purchasing a quality sander. Anyone use either or both of these?

Low vibration is my biggest goal.

I have the Mirka Deros 5" and it's been an amazing workhorse. Really a dream to use. In my opinion, it's a must to pair it with a tool-activated shopvac, the one I use is a Flex brand, it's pretty much dust free when you use it like that. So, between the $500 sander and another $300 for the vac it's not a cheap setup, but it is a dream to use. But if you're into the WW hobby deep, it pays off and will never go back to a cheap $80 RO sander ever again.

I don't have any experience on the 3M, so can't comment on that one. I've seen a lot of good reviews on the SurfPrep sander as well, which is also in the same type/class of tool.

I held onto my Deros sander for quite some time past the recall as just liked the smaller footprint of it. I did eventually end up calling Mirka and they swapped it out with the Ceros. Haven't put much mileage on it yet to A/B things

Have the same setup. I have a pretty decent wood/dust allergy, this combo really helps with that.

Most of these are produced by AirVantage at least 3M's were prior to their teaming up with Festool. The Surfprep ones are without a doubt AirVantage and I think the original Mirka were AirVantage as well although they may have moved on to their own design. Of the two styles that AirVantage makes I prefer the one with the separate power supply vs. the all in one as the balance is much better and almost identical to a Dynabrade traditional air sander.

The other nice thing is the Mirka comes in a T-stak case, and the Flex vac has an adapter plate to mount it. This setup is a few hundred cheaper than the festool stuff. I'll probably build a stand for the sander itself, but it's nice and mobile around the shop. I even brought this out to my deck when I was doing a strip and refinish and it worked great.

Is AirVantage still selling the remote power supply option? Looked at the website, dident look promising.
