I have been reading this forum for about a year now so I figure it is about time I share my little work shop. It isn't much compared to the 26x36 two story dedicated shop I left behind in Florida. Oh well I have my family back home in TN, so I can sacrifice for a few years until I build my next shop.

so is it my dark pictures or the lack of cool toys that I have over 400 views and not one welcome. I still love this forum anyway. :(

Here is a couple pics of my previous shop and the 54 5 window that I was working on.

The mini-rail is a Shredder II design that I have improved by upgrading the front suspension. I also added front and rear disc brakes where the design only called for a mechanical caliper rear disc. I built it from scratch with a welder, jigsaw, bandsaw and grinder. That is about all I can fit in my little work area, but I enjoy working on it and plan to build a bigger, better, 4X4 version next. Here are a couple more pics of it. The motor is a 25HP Kohler V-twin (706cc) with lots of torque. Climbs the hills and rocks of E. Tenn with no problems.

Unfortunately I had to sell the truck this summer. I had already welded up the frame cancer, put in the new rear end, new IFS up front and bought tons of parts. I had no room to work on it and I was able to pay off some debt. Once I build my next shop I will be picking up another 50's truck or 67-69 Camaro. Here are some shots of the condition when I sold it.

Both good lokin shops . I have a question though . What did you do to the HF tool cart . I have the same cart ( as many of us here do ) and mine has the same rough dull finish as the 13 drawer 41" cabinets . Yours looks quite shiny in the pics.

Rick

Mine came with the glossy finish. I picked it up on sale at HF in Nov.

Its shame you had to sell the '54...I built one 18 years ago and enjoyed it many years before selling it.

If you are referring to the gray cabinets they are made from plywood. That whole set up was originally for a miter saw table on top. It is a Norm design from New Yankee Workshop http://www.newyankee.com/nyw_yankees.php?do=item&dest=0201

I don't do much woodworking anymore, so I am thinking about adding a steel top to it. The storage area is great and I used full extension 100lb Accuslides so each drawer can handle lots of tools.

The other workbench is a woodworking bench that I added a steel top to.

You sold the truck?

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Tell the new owner to sign up for the GJ!

Yeah unfortunately I had to sell it. I told the guy that bought it to let me know when it is finished to I can look at it and cry while my wife beats me with a bat. My wife loves old trucks and the excuse I used to buy something old to work on was that the truck was for her. She took it very seriously and would get mad when I worked on any project other than her truck. It was her idea to sell it when we needed the money, so she isn't as bitter as she would be if it was my idea. Funny how the truck was for her, but she never did any work on it. :headscrat

Thanks for the info. I think I watched every series of Norm. He had some really nice shop series. Thanks for the link, I haven’t seen that one. I use to do a lot of wood work myself and want to set up a part of my shop for that again. Think I will review his miter table design.
