so while its not in the garage i do have a question that some people here may know the answer to. one of my recent make mother happy projects was to drywall the stairwell. and to add lights in the stair well itself. the plan is to hook them to the existing switches for the hall light. the set up has a switch by the front door and another at the top of the stairs. my question is how to connect these new lights to the existing switches and have the lights go on and off the same as the existing light.

as of now the wire is just run to the switch at the top of the stairs, not sure how to get it to the lower switch.

help?

IIRC there's two slightly different ways to wire up a 3-way. You should be able to easily find instructions with diagrams by Googling...found plenty of info months ago when I was reworking several of the lights & switches in my house.

Not sure of the specifics in your application (ie: can you get to the existing light fixture?), but the easiest way would be to run a romex out of the existing fixture and connect it a new fixture, and then to the next, and so-on.
