Think im going to try the Nortons. Northen tools has a 5pack for $9 bucks unless I can find it cheaper around town somewhere else. See how they good.
I've used those, they're good for the money. The singles Northern sells last longer but I haven't bothered trying to figure out which is a better value.

Another vote here for PFERD

I also recommend the thinnest disk you can get

Don't use them to grind because they will explode (not a PFERD disc)

Inside and outside view. Wall is 3/8" fibrolite (asbestos sheet). It wasn't me but I was in that garage when it happened.

Be careful out there kids

what brand was the one that exploded?

Not sure, it was a few years ago, I remembered those photos were in my Photobucket account. Knowing who's garage I was in it was probably a house brand from Supercheap Autos (NZ equivalent of Harbour Freight). That one definitely had side load applied to it.

I'm not saying it's a good idea but I grind with the Norton discs all all the time. I do not push real hard on on them though. Whatever you do though it is a good idea to make it habit to wear a face shield when cutting or grinding.

IMO, buy good wheels, they are worth it if they last 2-3 times as long as the cheap one (which they do in my experience) and are less likely to come apart on you.

Edit: I just checked we use use the Norton Bluefire cut off wheels and CGW grinding wheels, both are great.
