Hello.
New to the site. Planning on building my detached garage this summer. It will be a 28x40 with 12 ft walls. I was planning on using standard fink trusses, but I was thinking I could add some storage space in the attic. The only issue is it has to be a 4/12 pitch to stay under the height requirement. Has anyone used a different truss design to add some storage? I realize it will only be about 4.5 ft tall, but it’s only for seasonal light storage.

Any info would be appreciated.

my house has fink trusses and is around 6/12. it's also 28' deep and there is plenty of room for storage.

I have it decked with 1/2 ply down the center of half of the attic and I can double stack bin and leave an aisle down the middle if I put the bins between the trusses.

i guess you could have an attic-style truss spec'd, but if it isn't getting finished, you really won't gain anything over a fink

also, that 4.5' will get eaten up if you build up for insulation. mine are 2x4 trusses, with an additional 2x4 parallel on the bottom cord and a 2x6 perpendicular. the plywood is laid on top of the 2x6's. i also have interior walls below, so I am not worried about the modest weight up there...another thing to keep in mind.
