I got a Blue - point 4" adjustable wrench and I love it. Does Harbor Freight have a 4" adjustable wrench on the shelf yet? Do you have to special order them? What I use it to do, I can not get by with a 6" adjustable wrench.

Where have you seen a Crescent for $6? The cheapest Crescent 4" I have seen is right at $10.

I got me some old Diamond 4" adjustables. Found one at a yard sale. Bought it. Googled around. Found myself here. Now I've got well over 30 different 4" adjustables! The older Klein ones with the clear plastic handles are especially nice. Older Diamonds are nice, but often fairly beat. Proto made some smooth little ones too.

Fwiw, if you actually use a 4" adjustable wrench, treat yourself to a Knipex 5"/125mm pliers wrench. Everything a 4" adjustable can do, the 5" pliers wrench can do better. And this is coming from someone who used to use a Snap-On 4" adjustable at work occasionally.

If its vintage, says Snap-On on one side and Blue-Point on the other, and USA, it was made by Diamond Tool & Horseshoe for Snap-On.

Napa charges $16.84 for a Carlyle 4" adjustable wrench. Taxes included.

Bought one a few years ago. It was an impulse buy. And a strange impulse buy at that considering my local Napa stocks the full Carlyle line.

This is a very nice option

Not sure of they offer a 4 inch but Irwin/Vise Grip adjustable wrenches are very nice and sold at Lowes. I've got a 6 inch that lives in my general maintenance tool bag. It's my go to for faucet supply lines and such

I own the 5" Knpiex pliers wrench. It's a fantastic little tool, but I'm not sure it's a perfect substitute for a 4" adjustable (of which I own several, but don't really use them). Aside from being 1" longer (i.e. harder to pocket), it's also got narrower jaws. I find that's a bonus for my uses, as it fits into tight spaces most other wrenches will not, but that's not always what you want.

I thought Bahco made Snap on adjustable wrenches.

Did a search and it is Acesa. Acesa makes the wrenches for Bahco and Snap On.

"Snap-on, (or SNA) is manufacturing adjustable wrenches in the old headquarters of ACESA, in my city."

"Acesa (one of the most prominent and biggest of spain) still makes adjustable wrenches for the SNA-Group here in Vitoria. they even make the Snap-on branded one, and for europe the same tool is branded bahco."

Hello to all, thanks for the help.

I'll reply one by one.

-Acesa went out of production slowly, first, with the creation of "Herramientas eurotools" (Acesa, Palmera, Irimo and Irazola), and then with the integration into SNA Europe. This group of brands were just a bunch of factories in poor economic condition and that's why Snap-on can bought them. Progressive introduction of other brands of the group, such as bahco, erases the local brand, but not the factory. For example: Acesa (one of the most prominent and biggest of spain) still makes adjustable wrenches for the SNA-Group here in Vitoria. they even make the Snap-on branded one, and for europe the same tool is branded bahco. The Bahco branded screwdrivers are made in the old IRAZOLA factory. Palmera was simply shut down and Irimo also, but they mantain a line of chinese made tools, only because Irimo was in Spain like HAZET in Germany or Snap-on in USA.

-Grip-on is an independent brand, but most of the sales are for third countries.

-If you see an adjustable wrench made in spain, and not from SNA group of brands, is 100% a Irega. we're very proud of them, they're all over the world and the factory ONLY makes adjustable wrenches. Take care of them :)

These four dead dinosaurs were the biggest, but they're some more still producing: Bianditz, Super-Ego, Zubi-ondo, Alvis (my favourite screwdrivers), Ega-master...

To finish this biblic text, I want to say that maybe my country is not very known for tool making, but, we are very proud of our manufacturing, and if you own a spanish tool, remember the people that made them, the concern about quality, because that was all needed in that times, Quality.

"Sigue compañero esa senda, que alguien se preocupó de construir"

Hello.

I would like to buy a wrench set from Snap-on here in Spain, and I've some questions for the people here that owns Snap-on.

¿are worth the price?
¿are made in the United States?

I love wrench rolls, and I want to know if Snap-on makes such a kit. my most used numbers are from 7 to 22, so, I dont know if is better to buy spares and fill up my roll, or jump and buy a full set.

(I'll first try one 17mm wrench before paying so much money :eyecrazy: )

Snap-on, (or SNA) is manufacturing adjustable wrenches in the old headquarters of ACESA, in my city. But, I can't literally find Snap-on Products here...
I've been looking at one spanish website, says that they're the official distributor, but the limited amount of items shocks me. ¿Any ideas?

I've been also thinking about Wright.

¿Alguien de Vitoria o de España que sepa algo?

Thanks to all.

They are nice to keep on a keychain for small stuff. Very handy.

Here are some side by side pictures between the 5" Knipex pliers wrench and the 4", actually 4.5" Irega adjustable wrench rebranded by Elora, but also sold by Channellock and many others I'm sure.

I use the tiny pliers wrench much more than I expected and especially like the thin jaws, but the handles can be cumbersome to work with sometimes. I like the adjustable for being able to just set it and turn without having to also squeeze while turning.

My dad was a radio and tv repairman from the mid 50's til about 1980. His bench always had a couple of these lying around. Usually Crestoloy or Diamond.

I have an old 4” Diamond with green dip handle that I bought new about forty years ago. I use it regularly and I’m quite fond of it.

Got a Bahco (Spanish) 4” in Europe a couple of years ago for the garage toolbox and find it an excellent little wrench.

I’m not normally a fan of adjustable wrenches, but in 4” they can be quite convenient with little chance of damaging either wrench or work.

I have a little NOS Bahco I bought which is a nice little wrench. In this small size buy the best you can as if its a cheap sloppy one it'll just frustrate you and mess up what your doing. These are fairly cheap little tools so buy a good one.

For what it's worth, the picture on Amazon depicts a Wright branded Irega. The current Wright .pdf catalog also shows the adjustables as Irega, clearly marked Spain.

I fired off an email to Wright since they are all about 100% USA. I got a reply from Debra at Wright Tool stating the catalog is a misprint and they are USA made.

Very strange, as you say, says Spain on the wrench. Either way, should be a quality tool.

My local Tractor Supply has some crescent brand 4 inch in black oxide finish. They are in the bins near the door. Under $10

I was reading through this thread thinking damn I use the hell out of my 6" adjustable wrench & a 4" would be really handy & when I got yo your post I had to get up & walk to my garage. I bought the 4" crescent from TSC a couple weeks ago & its sitting in my wrench drawer untouched.

So thank you for posting this, I was about to order one.
