I bought this 4 foot two piece takedown rule today. The numbers and line are hand done like those seen on pre 1920 rules made by Lufkin, Chapin Stephens, Standard Rule, and Stanley but it has no makers name or number. It appears to be made of maple with brass fittings. Can anyone identify it.

It looks like it is a Lufkin 7128 45 inch rule which I found by going through the circa 1940 Lufkin 12B catalog. I am still not sure what the intended market was since it was nearly twice as expensive as a comparable 1 piece 1 1 /4 yard rule. Most cloth merchants would have probably not need for a takedown rule so perhaps it was meant for traveling fabric buyers??

Also in the 1920 catalog here. I too was concerned by the takedown and tailor not making sense. I didn't read the fine print under tailor's tools to see yours listed. I was looking at pictures

Nice get
