At least for now, I'm thinking of using 4 Lamp T-5 fixtures in my 36x48x10.5. I was told I need 6 of these for 70 fc. Anyone have an opinion on this style of fixture or have any other lighting suggestions?

FWIW: I have a 6-lamp T5 fixture with a mirrored surround over my work area. You can't look at the thing without sunglasses. It's about 15' above the surface. Illuminates an area of about 15 x 20. Very bright!

I was looking at doing the same in a 46x36x11 garage but the high bay units need to be suspended 18" below the ceiling because of heat, and the cooperlighting calculator shows a need for 8x 6 lamp T5ho units to get 70 fc. I now am looking to do 12x 4 lamp T8ho units instead surface mounted

Check your local electric supply company. My dad got his from Springfield Electric. Don't remember the price though.

I have 8 6-bulb T5HO's and 2 4-bulb T5HO's surface mounted and heat is not an issue.
