hi all - need help with a 4 post lift jacking issue - have a bendpak 9 - am using a jack plate that goes between the 2 ramps - have a car with low clearance (six inches to the jacking point front or back - the only thing i have found that fits under there is a what a call a 2 donut jack...has two small things that look like tires and it inflates and lifts the car up to 13 inches - the problem is that length of the jacking plate does not allow me to put a jackstand on either side of the jack to support the car - give the width of the car, i similarly cannot fit a jack stand under the frame on the sides - 1issue is that once behind the wheels, the lift height is not sufficient to allow the jacks fit - the other issue is their is not enough ramp space toward the center of the car to allow the full square base of the jack stand to rest on the ramps - have others encountered this problem? - if so...SOLUTIONS???? THANKS!! ed

I understand your problem. I too have been faced with the same situation. I have seen and used these 12 volt jacks that are available for people who don't want to crank. They have a fairly narrow base of support. I wonder if you could use one of these to elevate the car on an alternate point somewhere and then get the jack stand in solidly on the 4 post ramp or tray?

Just a thought.

I faced a similar dilemma with a Mini Cooper S that I used to have, with extemely low ground clearance. What I ended up doing was lowering the lift to a point off the concrete which would allow me to roll a floor jack under the car, jack it, the build a support of 4 x4's and layers of 2 x 6's actually on the ramps, then lowering the car frame onto that structure. This was repeated in the front and back. Granted this was somewhat of a jury rig, but it gave solid support without using the jackstands at all. Hope this helps.
