Just some of mys solutions to BendPak or any 4 post lift leakage issues.
I purchased a BendPak 4 post lift about 19 years ago. I have noticed that the cylinder leaked somewhat since new.It wasn't enough to be concerned at the time as the leak was so small that anything that leaked onto the floor would generally be absorbed by shop dust and cleaned up with routine shop maintenance. But if it did get on my convertible top it would be a PIA. So I always made it a point to park any cars on the bottom over to one side. But today with a new garage, the lift is now a storage only lift and is placed up against the wall and cheating it over to one side makes it impossible to get out. So even with a new seal drips like I had when the cylinder was new are not acceptable.Soe something I have thought about for 19 years but was to lazy to do is now complete.
The idea is to channel the drip to the outside of the lift. But unfortunately the pull plate has a guide welded to it that sticks out over the cylinder when the lift is full up. The welding actually hits the cylinder in the full up position. There is not much load on this guide but BendPak decided to weld it on from both sides with a huge 3/4" fillet weld, as if it held the rudder hinges on on the Nimitz aircraft carrier.
So the first thing that needs to be done is to cut that part out that extends over the cylinder and allow the dripping cylinder to drip clear of the guide and also allow room for a catching tray. I also welded on a 1/4' thick washer to allow at least 1/4" clearance to acomodate the drip tray. Then a small ~1" drip tray is welded to a 1" channel, which is notched on each end and cut in the middle to acomodate the cylinder. The inside of end of the channel is notched to go above the inside of the ramp and the outside end of the channel is notched to fit below. The whole thing is clamped to the cylinder with a single hose clamp.
This should move any dripping outside the width of my vehicle.
Since the leak today is now at unacceptable levels, I will also be addressing that. The gland nut is proving difficult to remove but you can follow the progress on that in this thread.
If anyone is interested in one of those channels, I have 2 extra that were made. You would have to fabricate the little side tray and weld it on. But they fit BendPak HD-9 and probably others. Message me if interested.

Hydraulic Cylinder Gland nut removal
Hello I'm having difficulty removing the gland nut on a BendPak 4 post lift. I have purchased and tried this pin wrench with a 24" breaker bar. I cant get it to budge https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LH1JJ23?tag=atomicindus08-20 I have 2 choices. I can get a bigger one that will also handle this...
