I noticed advantage lifts/ backyard buddy is offering a universal 4 post lift winch mount. My 4 post happens to be an advantage lift, so I know the mount will work and I have a 112v harbor freight winch that I got to lift a jeep hardtop and other things, but not using for the hard top. In fact haven't even used it yet. Eventually, I'd like to set it up to hoist stuff up to garage loft.

In any case I was about to order this mount, and thought I'd look to see if other options first. Came upon an old thread on this site talking about lifts and winches, a great point was made about lift but being bolted down, mine is not! I'm now thinking the lift winch idea.

I know the day will likely come i want to winch a dead car onto lift, so trying tu think of other options. Maybe drilling and epoxy anchors into the concrete so the winch could be mounted there, maybe on some sort of pedestal.

What have others done?

Maybe look into fasteners like those used for maxjax lifts. Basically they end up w/ a flush to the surface threaded hole in the concrete to bolt the lift to when you wheel it into position. Put a couple of these in your floor, hand tighten a well greased bolt in them so debris doesn't fill them and they would be ready for you hoist when needed. You could weld up a small bracket if you want to or just screw in a strong eye bolt.

Not a bad idea. I suppose I could do that for the lift as well and just nice lift into position if winch ever needed, but I have already moved it several times trying to play with perfect location.

But winch location isn't as important, imo, if I had more permanent mount along back wall or something as guide roller or something could me mounted to lift if off center.

I also like idea of winch not being attached to lift if needed for just pulling dead weight into garage and not onto lift.

As Craig suggested, the Read Head drop-in anchors work very well for anchoring with the ability to remove and leave a surface without any protrusions sticking proud. I used those to anchor my 4-post, as they allow me to relocate the 4-post as needed without having anchors sticking up from the floor.
