At work we have a Bendpack 12000 lb 4 post Alignment lift with open front that has broken at least 3 cables in the last 5 years. It was installed in 2004 and original cables lasted quite a while. The sheeves were replaced last time as well. These cables look to be large enough to hold over 12000 lbs each easy. One nut stripped off the cylinder and part of the runway rusted out and was replaced as well. Both rolling jacks have failed in this time too. Is this common? What is the expected lifetime of this type of lift? We have 3 2 post lifts (2 Rotarys and an Atlas) as well. The Atlas rubber pads and release cable were replaced and no repairs to the Rotarys.

You should not be breaking cables, I would say there is a problem with them rubbing or getting caught somewhere. Make sure they are getting installed properly.
A friend of mine is an ALI certified inspector and he said the Rotary lifts always pass inspection and last forever, he's installed bendpacks that have issues within days of install. Quality isn't even comparable
