I am planning on making a dip pan for my Bendpak HD9XW. Should I make them out of stainless or aluminum? what gauge would you all suggest? I was thinking 16 GA would be plenty for the 44 inch span.

I have access to a sheet metal brake and press. I just plan to bend up 90s on all 4 sides about and inch and half tall and weld them up.

Thanks for your suggestions

I made some sheet metal ones out of galvanized sheet metal and 90's. I am not quite finished putting them together but I am using them. I will post pictures when I get a chance.

I picked up some bakers pans at a swap meet, welded some 1/4" tubes on each end and bent up some round bar stock.
This makes them adjustable from side to side, they work great.

Here's mine. The are designed so that if you snug one up to another one, they will overlap so any drips won't fall through the crack. They have an X in them so that the oil will go towards the middle. also they are pretty deep so that they can't overflow. The corners are soldered where they are folded so that they won't leak. I have temporary angle iron hardware supporting them because I have not yet welded on a missing piece. I have eight of them (four on each lift). They can slide in the channel where they are resting.

By the way, you will notice in my first picture that there is a piece of masking tape near the left edge of the ramp and you can just barely see that there are a couple of mirrors at the end of the ramp. Since I cannot see the wheels on my 1936 Plymouth (fat fenders, running boards), I open the window and stick my head out and sight along the edge of the running board. I drive the car such that the edge of the running board just lines up with the tape.

Good idea. I'll have to remember this for when I buy my lift.

Just FYI - According to Jeff at BP, they are going to be releasing plastic trays (soon) that are 41'ish inches wide that will work for both the HD-9ST and the HD-9 (XW) versions.

No firm ETA, however.

Thanks for the info. Even though I made some I might want to buy at least one of the plastic ones. I would bet that they are much lighter.
