I ran across an old, rusty, ugly, but working 4 post lift. Was thinking it would be handy for the price to have it outside under a metal carport to do "dirty" work. Not interested in repainting it or making it pretty, only what it would need to make it safe to operate. I have a 2 post inside the shop. I have an area outside on one end of the shop that is compacted base with 2"-4"compacted concrete fines on top that was done when I originally built the shop that I use for parking. I also have a metal carport that is going there eventually that I got from a friend. I dont want to pour a slab and would prefer not bringing a concrete truck across the field as the ruts are hard to fix. I saw some reference to setting a 4 post lift on individual 2'x2'x1' footer pads. Anybody have any experience with this? I could see digging, leveling and setting up the all the forms and just hand mixing bagged concrete to do one pad at a time. Any thoughts?
