We recently bought a home that has a 4 post lift in the garage.
Seems to be a "generic" Chinese .
It was working f the first few times but no the locks at the back (rear of the car pulled in) are not releasing with the "handle", front are ok, to get the lift down I need to manually work the rear "crank"? to get it down I take a cable tie and move the releases and lock it....
Any suggestions?

I assume you are aware that you need to raise the ramp a few inches in order to release the locks.

Most 4-posts have a couple of rods running front to back with a middle coupling nut and some lock nuts. You may need to loosen this, get them synced, and tighten back down again.

OK, Thanks...under the left (drivers side) "runner", it's covered, I assume that is where the cables and release rods are...I'll have a look at that next
Yes I'm aware of raising to release...(that is not the problem), I can release the locks by turning the "crank" at the rear by hand. To get the lift down I cable tie the "crank" to hold the locks open....Once down I cut the tie so it will lock on the up again....

I almost collapsed my own 4-post lift when a lock was not working properly. It's extremely dangerous like that. Fix it.......... properly. Mine simply needed adjusting. Yours may need some actual fixing. But they are simple mechanisms; rods, levers, springs.... you can figure it out.

I will "block" the lift from moving down with a 2x4 at each corner....

I think a 2x4 under each corner should be enough just to keep the lift, no car on it, from coming down??
