I am looking at purchasing a 4 post lift. The Titan SDPL-7000XLT lift is what I have considered the most.

Lift Manufacurer:

Photos of lift:

Has anybody here ever owned a Titan lift? How does the construction look? I am using it to pickup a F150 (6000lbs) and a Mustang (3600 lbs). Do you think this is an appropriate model for that?

Any other lift recommendations?

Looks identical to a Eagle 7000 lb lift!

I just had two direct lifts installed. Haven't used them much but quality seems very high for home use. About the same price and I think it has the certs.

Maybe call a local installer? The guy that put mid in had good/bad things to saw about all of them.

I had decided on a Bendpak for a number of reasons but oddly enough found a Direct Lift (DL) for sale locally from a guy who was moving out of state so I got it and am very happy with it. I feel that most of the lifts out there are very similar to each other.

The things I really liked about Bendpak was the ability to have a rail-riding rolling jack vs. a sliding jack on a DL. The Bendpak also has the adjustable internal travel stops and dual safety mechanism, my DL has external stops and only the manual lever actuated safety catches which I had to almost totally rework as they were loose and not adjusted properly.

That said I do like my DL quite a lot and the cost savings over a new, unassembled lift justified the purchase. I did buy a bracket to relocate my pump unit inboard for the added clearance which I do recommend.

Good luck!

The Bendpak HD-9 series have a lot of nice subtle features to them, however there seems to be a little quality control issue over at Bendpak in my opinion. Just about everyone of my lifts had some problem here or there, one of them having a major problem (I have 3 HD-9s currently). If I had to do it again, I might pick another brand such as Rotary.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, don't bother with a non certified lift in my opinion. Any of the quality ones will have certification, and those are what you should look at.

Why would anyone bet their life on a non-certified lift? For $300 more I would think that the satisfacion, let alone the possible resale value, would be worth it.

I too installed a Bendpak HD-9 and had no problems anywhere. I love the rolling jack. Quality control did not show up anyplace on mine but in these modern times and the economy problems last few years, quality control seems to show up just about in every thing we buy.
My thoughts are that a warranty is only as good as the product. If the product is built poor the company will self disappear with the backup and service as well.

I am definitely leaning towards the Bendpak HD9XL now. It is a ALI certified lift. It is still Chinese made, but it is American engineered.

That Titan looks like it's made VERY light-weight. I'd be concerned about buying a lift that isn't certified. ALI Cert means they have to test them to 1.5X rated weight, have redundant locking mechanisms, rated sheaves and cables and much more.

Check out the link on my Blog - it's a lift comparison. You'll quickly find for yourself why most people choose BendPak ,as shown by a poll I did here a while back.

My installer said that there is a definite noticeable difference in quality between the certified and non-certified lifts that he has installed. He said seeing a Viper on a cheezy lift will make you cringe.
Are there any lifts made in America?? I don't think I found any in my research, at least not in the 7-9000lb range.
Look at the shipping weights of the lifts, there's not alot of components in a lift, but you'll see 3-500lb diffrences in shipping weights. What's that tell you??

E-tek's pole had BendPak and Rotary as the leaders. Rotary also makes the Direct Lift ProPark models that I just bought and am very happy with. It came down to Bendpak vs Direct for me, the deciding factor was that the BendPak latest "Rev M" models only come 100-1/4" wide inside while my Direct is 109-3/4". Pricing was a wash when you did apples to apples with accessories and shipping.

tdk is right.
There is a HUGE difference in the way these lifts are manufactured.
I have a Challenger (Quality brand ) 9000 pound unit. Certified as well.
Be very careful with some of the cheapie lifts.

I bought mine from kwik-lift.com

I have a Bendpak HD9XL, and I couldn't be happier with it. It has served me well, and Bendpak is a great company to work with. I only wish that I had a bigger garage for all my cars.

I have a Bendpak HD9, and overall I am happy with it, but I absolutely hate the fact it needs compressed air to release the locks. I don't see any advantage over mechanical releases on the other lifts. I bought the air bottle and find it useless.

Not correct. The Rev. M is also 109" wide. You are thinking about the HD9ST, which is 100" wide. The regular (non M Rev.) HD9 is 117" wide.

Surprising, I've found that dealing with bendpak is usually really easy, and their are always quick to respond to inquiries.

This is a big plus for Bendpak, however I've had poor experience with their quality. Most likely won't buy from them again

You might do a double check on that, I was finding conflicting info a couple weeks ago, the BP website was listing everything as 100" wide . I emailed and got a reply, that I quoted in another thread, stating that 100" inside is indeed correct, and is the widest they make in a 9000lb lift.
They do not make the regular HD-9 anymore.

"Rev M" document attached:
