I am starting to look into a 4 post drive on lift. I like the idea of the Backyard Buddy being sturdy enough to move around with the caster kit but are kinda pricey. At a minimum I want a 9K weight rating as my hobby are pickup trucks. I am in the midwest and would like it made in the USA. Any opinions?

Are any made in the US? If so do you want to spend 50 to 100% more for one? I have the Bendpak HD9-XW but think it is made in China though it is ALI certified and there is an optional caster kit.

I went with wildfire lifts. Every thing included but it’s not USA made. It’s very sturdy and I have no issue working with it or under it.

I went with a Direct Lift Pro Park 9 Plus several years ago and have been very satisfied. Not made in the US (China) however it has provided good problem free service. Regardless of which brand you go with, I would recommend a bridge jack. It spans the runways and allows you to jack up either end of the vehicle. It has come in handy more times than I ever would have thought.

I have the HD-9ST and it has been a great lift. Very well built and fits nicely in my single stall garage! I sprung for the casters and they work very well. Easy to move the lift when needed.

A friend of mine bought a backyard buddy used and I helped him move it. It took 3 guys less then an hour to tear it down then about an hour when we got it to his house to set it up. It was simple, seemed to be quality and construction seemed to follow logical engineering design. I was impressed with it. I do not know what he paid but knowing him it was a deal.

Call Advantage Lifts out of Minnesota. Built very well, as safe as any 4 post lift on the market. They are less expensive than Wildfire, who wont budge on price and copied Advantage ;). I just installed my Advantage 9000 over Memorial weekend. It took about 3 hours with my dads help.
It includes casters, and aluminum ramps. The ramps actually store in the back of the sliding jack tray rails.

Tony/owner did an extensive installation video that is posted on youtube, and you wont even need to open the instruction manual....

Bought my BYB about 20 years ago and had to move it once. Quality unit and would buy it again.

Advantage lift here. Have had it for 1.5 years no issues. The only thing I would do to improve the advantage lift is the ability to Have adjustable ramps. Like a narrow or wide setting. I have a 2015 mustang without any wheel spacers and it barley fits on the lift.

I just had an Advantage 4 post lift installed 3 weeks ago. I wanted a Bendpak for years until I looked at the construction and design of the Advantage lift. Some key features I liked were the post are 6 inch square and the "stops" are laser cut right in the post. Not "ladders" inside a 3 sided channel like the Bendpak and others. The motor can be installed on 3 sides of the post for added versatility. The top and bottom plates are 3/4" thick compared to 1/2" of others. The locks are 3/4" thick as well. A sliding jack stand, 4 drip pans, and casters are included in the price and not add ons. So far, so good.

So it appears good to you, but is it ALI certified?

I understand that's not a guarantee of anything, but if the Advantage was as good as lifts that are certified, I have to wonder why Advantage isn't certifying theres. If only just for marketing purposes.

Yes, I'm one of those people who prefers paying a little bit extra for a certified lift (even though I'm not certain what that certification entails) given that I'm going to be working under something that weighs thousands of pounds.
