I'm ready to buy a 4-Post lift and the heaviest vehicle I will be lifting will be a F-350 stake-bed Ford truck. Would a 9K rated lift do the job safely or would a 12K be a better/safer choice. Bill

Holy **** Mark I had no idea they weighed that much! Flattie I'd go 12k then. We had a drive on rack that would lift a wrecker but the air jacks would not lift the rear axle.PITA.

Good point about the jacks. My brother has an F-250 7.3 PSD, it may be heaver than the F-350 stake bed. Thanks

Most 1 ton dually pickups are going to run 7000-8000 lbs just the truck alone then you have to add in all the extras.

I don't know what the safety factor is on the lifts but I'm thinking I wouldn't want to run them up anywhere near their max rating. I'd go for the 12000 pound unit.

Matti, thats what I'm probably going to do. I know it may be somewhat of an overkill but I would feel better about it. Bill

That bed probably adds quite a bit of weight over a normal box bed. I bought a 12,000 lb. lift because I knew I'd be servicing some 1 ton flatbeds on it. I probably could have gotten by with the 9,000 but I knew it would be close to being at the max weight every time I used it and I didn't really feel comfortable with that, especially since the weight on a truck is not distributed equally.
