Hello everyone, first I just have to say I wish I found this forum a long time ago, this is awesome! Full of fantastic ideas and information! With that said, I'm looking at installing a 4-post lift in my garage very soon and have done a lot of research. Unfortunately, I am very limited to space in my garage and while numerous lifts would fit, they take up considerable floor space. As I'm sure many of you can relate, if I infringe on my wife's side of the garage, well there will be hell to pay:lol: So it appears my likely choice is the BendPak HD-7P, which would fit perfectly and still leave me a little room. I believe this is a really good choice however after reading several posts about lifts; it's not well liked because of its narrow width (99 3/4" overall and 89 3/4" between the posts). I have a 2013 Boss 302 Mustang (Sweet Ride) that will sit on top with a total width of (80.1") including mirrors. That leaves roughly 5" on each side which should be plenty. My other two vehicles have folding mirrors so that shouldn't be an issue either. Does anyone out there have a lift with the same width (BendPak or other) and if so what do you think? Does it work well for you? Would you recommend it? Thanks,
Tom

I have a Atlas 8000 (same dimensions), I keep a 1970 Camaro on top, and wife parks her 2014 Camry under it. Sounds like the Bendpak should work in your situation, my ceiling height is 10'10".

I got am HD9XW just about 2yrs ago. Best investment yet, should have got one 10yrs ago! I also got the RJ45 rolling jack and a castor kit. Needed the bigger lift for my RAM 2500. Get what you need that fits what you want to do with the lift. I chose the Bendpak over the Atlas 9000 as it is a little narrower which made it easier for me to get a car in/out of my garage, and the air locks. My neighbour got the Atlas, he wishes now he got the Bendpak

I will probably go with an HD-7 as well but the wide version. Simply because I will need it to be close to full width for my Jeep. If going to the wide version impedes on your wife's "side" and the narrower model works, go with it. Otherwise, I'd probably recommend the wide model simply to provide a little future proofing should you decide to buy something different (ie. vehicle).
Cheers.

I'm planning on getting a Bendpak HD-9ST for my small 3 car garage that is 19.5' deep (third stall is only 18'-5" deep) by 27' wide. I could maybe get by with an HD-7P but I'd rather have some headroom on the weight capacity. Ceilings are 10'-6", and am planning on putting in high-lift door tracks with a jackshaft opener. I still won't be able to utilize the full lift height with some vehicles, but it will be nice to have usable space underneath when it is not in use and sitting in the third stall.

Had been considering Max-Jax or Bendpak MDS-6KF flush mount mid-rise scissor lift, but my floor is of questionable thickness/strength and I don't want to deal with the concrete work/expense of the flush mount when the 4 post will give me greater flexibility.

I don't plan on owning any big trucks, the biggest vehicle I'd probably ever have would be a Suburban/Tahoe size or equivalent.

You guys are demanding! I had to put a pic in of my freshly epoxied floor before I assembled the lift just so you'd know I can actually keep my garage clean!! Yes, my toy is my old R/T which I have had since 1989. Its a very good driver condition, 440 4spd Dana car, all original. I rebuilt the engine and suspension years ago but it is time to get the body done, hopefully soon. For now, I just burn a little rubber!! The neon sign is my latest acquisition

Awesome! Thanks everyone for replying, this is very helpful. So I feel good about my decision to go with the BendPak HD-7P and can't wait to get it installed. FYI; according to BendPak they have changed their standard base color from BendPak Blue to Gunmetal Gray, however the Blue is still available at an additional cost as well as Red and Black. Now I have an electrical question, the BendPak installation manual for HD-7P calls for a 25 amp circuit breaker single phase (dual pole for 220v) and BendPak stated over the phone that the motors are shipped without a plug and there is a Black, White and Green wire (3 wires), I ran a 10/2 wire out to the garage (two wire has a black, white and bare copper for ground), does this sound right to you guys who have already installed theirs? Just want to get a consensus, I consulted an electrician and he thinks this is correct however without being able to see the connection diagram on the motor himself, he can't be entirely sure. I plan on installing the 30 amp twist lock plugs and receptacles once the installation is complete. Thanks:)

Thinking you may want to double check and confirm a Suburban/Tahoe will fit width wise on an HD-9ST. If I recall correctly that is the narrow version of the HD-9 and you may have an issue with a large SUV such as mentioned above in your post.
