Thanks for the link to the topic, when I put in 4 post lift in search, it didn't show any threads with the topic, sorry and thanks for being patient with this newb! So from what I read, direct lift, challenger, rotary, advantage, bend pak and atlas are brands some have bought. I am looking for mainly storage of a Camaro. Occasionally work on a vehicle. Does everyone bolt them to the floor? What are the potential issues if you don't bolt it down? Any strong opinions of why not to purchase a brand above? Any of the brands above have poor after the sale support?

Going through the exact same process of trying to find a good quality 4 post lift. My mind was set on a Bendpak HD-9 as I did a bunch of research a couple years back.
I was surprised to learn of some recent quality control and customer service issues as quite a few GJ members have indicated in a link to my recent post.
So now I'm not sure which direction I'll go but now considering Challenger as well as Direct Lift.

A few people with problems are going to speak up much more quickly than a majority who have a good experience. Statistically speaking it is difficult to judge their quality based on a sample of complaints.
I'm in the same boat, I'll be looking for a lift sooner or later and Bendpak has what I think I'm looking for.

Looking over lift posts from the past year, it seems that, in general, everybody seems to like the lift they bought no matter what the brand so long as it comes from a reputable manufacturer. IMO, it's more important to get a lift that fits your personal needs and what you are going to use it for than to just buy xyz brand because there are more posts on this forum favorable to that particular manufacturer.

Totally agree but the fact remains when I did my research 2-3 years ago there were almost NO complaints or negative comments on this board regarding Bendpak lifts.......that has now changed as evident from some of the responses to my post. Still considering a Bendpak but now also considering alternatives.
I also noticed the VP at Bendpak (Jeff) has not posted here during the last 2-3 years and he was cited by many as one of the main reasons they were comfortable purchasing Bendpak lifts. Not sure if there is a relationship between him no longer posting (maybe he is not with BP any longer) and the decline in customer service and quality that so many are now mentioning.

I've had no issues with a four post lift that is not bolted down to the floor. Once you put the car on it, it's not going anywhere.

I did all of the "research" a few years back before I ordered my Bendpak. No issues, high quality and no, you do not have to bolt it down...it is easily moved with the caster kit. there are much cheaper lifts that work just fine but I chose BP.

I live in Florida as well. I went through this for a year or so researching a lift. I narrowed it down to either a Challenger or a Rotary. I went with a Rotary Direct lift. Supper strong certified and it fits my Suburban on it. I also like the hight of the lift when it is fully up. To many issues with other lifts and the rotary dealer came and set it up for the price of shipping.
Also you do not have to bolt it down. Mine is not but it is really stable.

Dave. Welcome aboard. I ordered an Advantage Lift that should be coming in a few weeks. If you want to come help install with a few guys from the club, you're welcome to. Alan, Larry and Sean have all volunteered to put it together. This way you can get first hand knowledge of the Advantage Lift before you buy.

Quality, ALI Certified, American Made... that was my criteria.
Rotary is a great choice, as others have mentioned.

I have a 9K 4 post Direct Lift and it's worked out very good. Mine has 2 4500lb rolling jacks which IMO are a must have with a 4 post. I just did a Air Ride setup on a car and it's ideal for cycling the suspension and switching from being on the wheels to then supporting the frame and using screw jacks. I also love the fact that it's easily portable with the included casters and doesn't have to be bolted down.
