When I bought my house in Green Bay WI back in 2002 one of the first things I did was correct some landscape/drainage issues with fill and buried 4" green thin wall plastic drain pipes for the downspouts to take water out away from the house. One is on the NW front of the house, the other is on the south face, and the drain pipe runs under the paver patio 20' feet out into a raised section of the back yard.
The sump pump outlet also routes into the south buried drain pipe. Found out today the 4" green pipe has cracked due to freezing. I can't get down below the freezing zone, so I think I'll replace the run of 4" green drain pipe with Schd40 plastic pipe which has a much thicker wall than does the green plastic drain pipe. That, and I may have to wrap the replacement schd40 pipe with heat tape to keep it from freezing in the winter. Probably only a real issue about four months out of the year.
