No one matches the angles that SO offers, plus if you can find the old FD+ models they have helped me out A LOT! Best to **** it up and look for some used SO.

Been wondering the same thing lately. Can anyone recommend another decent quality brand of these for the budget conscious?

Thanks

The only premium brand with 30 and 60 degree angles is Snap-on; the others have 15 and 60 degree heads.

FWIW there are other brands with 30 and 60 degree angles: V8 and ATD in their newer models (beware as lots of NOS 15 and 60 sets still for sale).

Of course these two brands aren't in the premium league.

This is one thing that Snap-On has the market cornered on with their 30 and 60 degree ends. All others have 15 and 60 degree ends which makes them less usefull. You already have 15 degree ends on your regular combination wrenches.Choke up on the bat and buy Snap-On in this case. They are truly excellent.

Don't get me wrong, the SO's are nice, I own both the complete metric set and 90% of the SAE offered. I don't find the lack of 30 degree head a deal breaker. A NOS SK set would be nice. I like mine better then SO. Martin is another good option.

Snap On is the only quality brand that makes the 30 and 60 degree angle heads. They are pretty sweet.

V8 Tools is the only one I know of for sure that copies the 30 and 60 degree head. The V8 Tools are Chinese wrenches, and I do not know the quality of them. I was going to purchase a set of the V8s to give a shot a couple of weeks ago but I could not find the 14pc SAE ones in stock anywhere. Metrics, yes, but not SAE, which is what I wanted for hydraulic lines.

I would up going with a set by Tekton that is 60 and 15 on the angled heads. They are cheap Chinese wrenches but are surprisingly nice for what are supposed to be cheap junk tools. I got a set for $44 and use them at work all the time for hydraulic fittings. The finish is pretty decent and they don't have humongous lobster claws. It seems many of these cheap tool makers rebrand the same sets, I've seen Sunex, ATD, and Tekton wrench sets that seem to be fairly identical.

You may also want to pick up a set of cheap Pump or Service wrenches for the 30 degree heads. http://www.harborfreight.com/15-piece-metric-service-wrench-set-93668.html

If I was going to be using them everyday then Snap On would be the only choice. I dont use them everyday only the occasional tight spot so I bought a used set of Tekton SAE 4 ways off of Ebay and have no complaints.

If your that serious about working on hydraulics, get 1/2" drive Crowfeet. Way more useful the angle wrenches. I can have any degree of attack and a 24" of leverage for stupid ******* tight #12 fitting.

for as little as I use them, sunex. I find more situations like posted above where crowsfeet would be more useful.

1 1/2" and 1 1/4" crowfeet in 1/2 drive are worth their weight in gold...

Snap On is the way to go if you're going to buy angle wrenches, that 30 degree end will get you out of a tight spot.

Don't count Bonney's out. There are sets of their 15x60 angle wrenches on ebay on a regular basis. Not cheap, but not S-O price.

I never used an angle wrench till I got some Bonney's. Now I don't know how I'd work without them.

Scour ebay for used sets. I got the big 4 angle Snappy set (28 wrenches, 1/4 - 2") for 1/3 of truck price. Guy put a buy it now up, and I must have been the first person to see it :p

Also found a huge set of Snappy Flare crowfeet (24 or 25 pieces, 1 1/8 - 3 1/8") which were a absolute steal, guy was selling them all individually. I low ball offered him $900 shipped and he agreed some how lol 14-15 of them were brand new and to put that set together would be like $3k on the truck.

No way, I don't use the open ends on wrenches so why would I buy wrenches that only have open ends? Also they don't ratchet; I'm a human being not mega man I don't have robotic self ratcheting arm parts.

;)

(I think sk has sets like this...seems like something they would sell)

I know this is a joke, but I have met ALOT of people that dont understand what the purpose of a 4 angle wrench is and asked that exact question lol

I have sunex brand ones. The big set up to 2" also. Dont use them too much and they have been fine when i needed them. Defiantly not premium though.

I have a set of Snap-On SAE from 3/8 - 7/8 that is the OLD STYLE I BEAM , (same 30'/60' angles) I'm selling. They're in nice shape, I will list in classified in the next day or so.
The I-beam are the same thick ness on the 3/8 but get progressively thicker as the size goes up so there is more surface on the fastener. Maybe a disadvantage in thin hose fittings but nice on aluminum or collector vehicles where your worried about marking fasteners. Here is a comparison:

Around 2:00 into the video it shows the difference between the 15/60 degree wrenches and the 30/60 wrenches.
