I have 3 locations where I ran shared neutral MWBC to a single quad-box (double gang? not sure the term), so I had to put double GFCI receptacles in those locations; no way to piggy-back off the load side of a single GFCI there. I only did this because I'm not sure where I want/need welder outlets yet, so I can easily convert one (or more) to 240V outlets in the future. That ate up 6 GFCI outlets right there.
The other consideration was that sharing the neutral makes it no longer a current carry conductor-- I was limited in conduit fill in places and this approach saved me labor and material compared to running more conduit-- but still giving me the flexibility I wanted. A compromise of sorts, but $100 in GFCI receptacles isn't the end of the world.
