4 Year garage build

Started this Life Dream Garage in Winter of 2005 building the 18' High Keystone Block wall. I live on a pretty good hill so this was my way of reclaiming a bit of level ground and a place where my crews could work when paying work was slow.

95% of the construction I did myself for therapeutic reasons.

Now that Im close to complete I realize its no where near big enough 36' X 32'.

Its also not high enough 10.5'. The wife just had to have an apt over the top
so compromise I did.

Hope Yall enjoy. Its great to share with fellow garage lovers. I really do enjoy looking through the awsome garages on this site.

tile wainscoting, that might be the first time I have seen that, especially in a garage.

Looks great, very well thought out. Are the beam and post structural, or just for moving stuff around the shop?

The beams were planned for strucural as well as for moving things around.
The poles were set during foundation work and located so that the I beam would be over the front of a vehicle for engine, etc lifting.
The Jibb Crane/Center post was a part of that structure. The Jibb crane moves 360 degrees un abstructed.

Yes That is Tile Wains exactly 2 tile high (no cutting) with a 1" X 3" metal tubing top trim bolted to the studs. With the 6" curb at the bottom I was able to cut 2'' off of a full sheet of 4' X 8' T1-11. So no seams in the Ti-11

i like the T-11 siding on the interior. A nice alternative to OSB or plywood. It has a nice finish look and takes paint well. Great looking space.

Geez, the only people I get in my garage are a few buddies that smell like sweat and cigars:D

Great setup in the garage and the floor is unbelievable, really nice.
(I assume that's the Camaro under the car cover? We need more pics)

Very well done. Can tell a lot of thought went into layout. What do you have on the floor? Epoxy? What brand? Getting ready to do a new garage and looking at all options for floor coating.

No cover over the compressor?

BTW...The garage looks great. I really like everything off of the floor like you have done

Decided the cover over the compressor just wasn’t worth the trouble.
I figured because compressors aren’t that expensive anymore that I would just replace the compressor or the motor when it wore out. The one shown has been out there the last four years and it keeps pumping air.

Everything is off the floor or on wheels. I learned my lesson the hard way. I built a basement/garage in Texas and because of the height of the hill I was able to lower the rise in the driveway approx 9’ and have my Garage under my house. Ill post a picture. But because of inexperience (building basements) and ground water I sometimes get water in the garage after a lot of rain. Having everything off the floor or portable helps with cleaning.

I had the floors done buy this Co.

I researched the Vacuum awhile. And yes it is the same as what’s at a Car Wash or they are seen at some Fueling stations like Wal-Mart.

I guess a few pictures of the Camaro won’t hurt anything here on the garage forums.

Normally I don’t have that many people there. Was my sons wedding and because of the house the location and the GARAGE DANCE FLOOR the new daughter-in-law wanted the wedding there.

Believe me when I say Im very tired after building it. I hope I never have to do it again. Was worse than building my house there in 1986. Then I just watched contractors as they worked. When I built the garage everyone watched me as i did all the work.

papabone, thanks for all the pics. I have a lot on a hill as well, and I am thinking about building a wall like yours to put a building on top. Did you do that yourself? Do you have any pictures of the process or any more info on it? What did you back fill with to make sure it would never the backfill would never sink?

THANKS!

Nice garage. I really like your bench idea and the jib crane.
Looks like you had a major challenge with building up the foundation for the garage. Wow. Good looking Camaro too. Did you restore, or buy already done?
