A little update, now that the snow has cleared, I got the vintage gas station lights up on the outside, finished the benches and got my compressor. Here are some pics:

I spy a Beetle behind other toys... is that a new project? Is it the '63 you were trying to get back (as mentioned on page 2)? Keep in touch with Jim J. and maybe I'll see you at a show this spring/ summer.

That compressor looks huge! And the barn lights over the garage doors look really nice too. I just put a similar light above my man door, but don't have anything over the garage door. Hopefully my electric install will be finished this month, and then I'll get some pics on my build thread.

real nice build.

Seems like a real manageable size.
Not sure this is mentioned, what height are the walls.

I too, really like the old broncos, what year is it?

Yep its the 64 I owned 12 years ago, the best thing was the guy gave it back to me for nothing, he got a devorce and lost his storage space so it was going to go to the scrapyard!
here are some pics:

Looks fantastic - this is the size/layout etc garage that I want when we eventually buy some land (renting at the moment, Australian house prices are way too high)...

Quick question - are you going to put a lift in? If so, with the attic, would you have enough clearance?

Quick question 2 - what width are your doors?

Cheers,

Chris

Nice job with the Beetle! You're just a few steps ahead of me on the driveway - I'm collecting quotes to get mine done, and hopefully I'll have a driveway done before the end of May.

Looking good man, you still planning the metal ceiling? I love mine. The amount of light it reflects is amazing! Your stairs turned out great, makes me wish I could have permanent ones. Cheers!

Nice garage build and nice Caddy. Here is the one that I restored with my Dad when I still lived in NY. We sold it in 2002, He passed in 2006. I'm kinda glad that we sold it when he was still with us, if I still had it today, it would be really hard for me to let it go.

Very nice build, my younger brother is a teacher at Harford County North MS, my Uncles use to live in Fawn Grove, seemingly not too far from where you are. Thanks for sharing!

Nice build. I'm also loving the cars. I see one problem though, you need to christen the fresh asphalt with some rubber sealant of the Goodyear variety.

Just a small update, I got my lift installed yesterday everything went well, despite the fact that the dumb *** at the freight terminal decided it was a good idea to drive his fork lift up the rear door of my trailer. Went with the Bend Pak xpr-10cx, made in China, all in all seems to be a good product for the price, $2700 and $500 for install.

How far away is the lift from the back wall? How far from the side wall? Have you had any trouble with this location?

It is 1 foot off the side wall, and 12 feet from the back wall, no issues at all.

I have lifted my 24 foot dually and the 20 foot long Cadillac ( the Caddy i did front out to do a motor swap) and still have good room to move around.

When you said "vintage gas station lights", do you mean they are actually old lights? If they are reproductions, where did you get them??

I love the look, and they are a good scale with the garage and doors.

Yes, they are original 1953 Texaco gas station lights, I found them on Ebay, and had the swan neck mounts made.

Beautiful garage OP. Was it a local builder who did the garage for you; mind if I ask who? I'm in the market for a 50 x 50 for all my toys and am searching around for a builder as well as the amish.

progress has been slow on the inside, jut got the ceiling dry-walled, and ready for paint, most of the wall are sheeted with 5/8 OSB. Need to finish up some of the trim work, but these damned cars are taking up all my time, I just finished a quick redo of the Hudson, and I am in the process of building a 31 Ford AV8.

Lookin good! Once you throw some light colored paint on those walls and the ceiling, it'll be pretty bright in there. I used a semi gloss to bounce more light and make clean up easier.

Gonna do any decorating to match those cool cars?

Just curious on your number to build. I will be building something similar and your costs scare me a bit. Is there anything in particular that drove your costs to $45K? I assume you hired a builder which would add cost over doing it yourself. But I noticed you didn't even have concrete footings poured. If you don't know or don't want to share any more details, no worries. I'm just curious if it was everything or any particular options you chose that got you to $35/sq ft.
