Once the truss was in place I would nail it to the truss blocks I showed earlier.

Then I would nail in the precut 25.5" 2X4s that you see in front of me in the picture below.

Then I nailed in another one on the floor.

And then every 5 or 6 I would install diagonal bracing.

This was all continued until the trusses were all installed.

I hope the pictures help anyone installing trusses.

Now 25.5 is making sense! Picture is worth a thousand words. What kind of roof on this one?

Looks like a great build... Would enjoy seeing some current pics. My grandmother lived in Ortonville until she passed, have fond memories of visiting her there.

This project had not been making progress, mostly due to lack of motivation and help.

About a month ago now I got 11 buddies to all come together and pitch in to make some progress. We started with half a roof and no siding or windows. By the end of the weekend it looked like the pictures below.

In the following weeks. I hired a siding crew to do the front and back. I wasn't comfortable hauling up 30ft sections of steel with a couple of inexperienced buddies.

They ended up taking 2 more days and $500 more than expected, but it came out descent and I feell was well worth it.

I did the vapor barrier/ insulation and tubing with a couple friends. It wasnt too hard and the tubing looked super cool!

Last weekend the concrete went in

And this is how it looks now, except I have cut the floor.

The overhead door goes in this weekend, or at least I hope I can find time to do it this weekend.

This is a pretty old thread at this point so it’s time for an update. I got a job working for Edelbrock last year and moved from Michigan to Mississippi leaving the garage I worked so hard on behind.

Fortunately I found a new owner for it with like interests and he has been finally finishing it up. I have invited him to post the updates here.

As for me, I’m now in the midst of my second garage build. I’ll post a link up here once I start a new thread.
