Howdy guys, thanks for the comments.

Did you build the miter saw cabinet also? I would like to build one. Any changes you would recommend?

Hangar Pilot,

Yes, indeed I did. Built this several years ago and the left side of the fence has a box that slides out of the top to give the left half an additional support when cutting long boards. But, even that feature was a little short when cutting 16' long boards. Of course, I didn't see the need for more support when I built it but, if I was going to change anything allowing the space for more support would be it.

The drawers use 100lb metal slides so they're super smooth even though I have some very heavy left over tile from a kitchen makeover in one of them. I'm sure I got the plans for this out of one of the woodworking magazines that I have subscribed to over the years and I might be able to locate it if you believe that would be helpful.

That's nice. Tambor door is an interesting touch. Always liked roll top desks, no skills to build one though

Thanks 05r50. But seriously, don't think that you don't have the skills to do exactly the same thing should you wish to do so. By no means am I a master craftsman when it comes to woodworking. Just an ordinary guy with a passion for the craft.

When I first seriously started my adventure into woodworking about 15 years ago I started reading just about every woodworking magazine that had words. Through that journey I've certainly learned a lot and, continue to do so. Making the tambour door is actually pretty easy considering I used Amana's Tambour Door Router Bit set: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0019MLOIA/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Considering it's a speciality tool some might consider it a little pricey but, they're system comes with everything that you need with the exception of the dado cleanup bit for the groove which, they're also happy to sell you. Lol

LOL, thanks Dr. Stan. Once I get it cleaned and straightened up it will really dawn on me how big it is. Received the diamond plate sheet metal which I am going to install above the overhead doors to finish off the walls and hold the insulation in.

I'd like to slip the sheet metal behind the door springs brackets and I think that's the real reason I haven't started this phase. The big question in my mind is if I take out the bolts on one side at a time to install the sheet metal behind it, is the whole thing going to go BOING???:lol_hitti

Paladin, if you live in a universe different from mine, that should work fine. Where I live, it will go BOING, something will fly across the shop and will hit and severely damage the thing that is hardest to replace (if you're lucky, it will just be a broken light fixture on the ceiling).

WOW JUST WOW, looks awesome man where did you find the wood at that you put on the inside

So, sorry for my extremely delayed post. We ended up deciding to sell the place, including the shop and got too busy. The wood came from Silver Creek Sawmill in southeastern Oklahoma community known as Battiest. Here's the website: www.silvercreeksawmill.com.

Of course, the new place has to have a shop and, for anyone interested you can see it here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6694994#post6694994

LOL, Bob you can be assured I was definitely concerned about that. However, after talking to a garage door person I finally figured out this would be fine as long as I didn't unbolt the springs. (Which I most definitely did not do.) I actually finished it right before we moved as crazy as that sounds. Unfortunately, we got extremely busy and I didn't get any pics.
