Hi to all and thanks for the wealth of info in this forum.
I have spent the last 6 months doing lots of research on shops and looking for property in my area, (western WY). It's come down to 10 acres of sage brush with unubstructed mountain views to the N, W and E. I have power and phone to the lot, the rest is up to me. My wife and i have decided on a 40x60 with a 20x40 apt to live in until we can start building a house in a few years. I am doing this all with cash as it comes in. The biggest intial expense is concrete (other than a well) i am planning on doing all the work myself, with help of course. My question is, what do you all think of ICF forms? I will be installing in floor heat so i want as much insulation as possible so I'm thinking the foam forms will make things a little easier. Do i dig the trech and use that as the forms for the footer, or use the ICF's? Just curious on everyones experience with them. Construction starts first weekend of May so i will be taking pictures and keeping everyone informed. Any advice will be appreciated.
Again, thanks to all for your builds, they've been inspirational!!
