Thetion AL is fine, but since the adoption of the 1996 NEC it's no longer allowed to install a 3 wire circuit for a range or dryer, it's only allowed to be used in existing installations, so if it was required to be moved, it would be required to upgrade to current standards.
If you wanted to use aluminum conductors to wire your entire house it is permitted by the NEC still, the only problem would be finding AL NM cable, the only material is NOS new old stock NM cable, but since the NEC has required NM cable to be rated for 90°C since the mid 1980's, and the old **** has a 60°C rating it cannot be used. Copper clad aluminum cable is making a comeback though, it has the economy of AL, & the ease of terminating connections of copper, Gimme copper Romex® over CU-Clad AL they can keep that ****. I was even reading of proposals to allow 14 AWG copper clad aluminum on 10 amp circuits in the next NEC, have to wait and see if that abomination comes to pass.
