moving into my childhood home and it has a few acres to build a garage. 40x32 pole building. scissor trusses (5/12 outside, 2/12 inside) to fit a 2-post lift.

here's the site before and after grading. it didn't look that sloped, but it took 24 tandem dump loads of fill!

it's getting late, so here's one before i hit the sack. the amish crew went from holes in the ground to this in about 6hrs.

Nice build! At one point, for many years, contracted with a company in North Canton. Not Timken, and not Hoover (which I think subsequently sold out and went to China). The banking equipment company. Looking forward to seeing your garage space take shape.

The buildings looking good so far. You can't beat the Amish when it comes to putting these things up. What takes the normal individual three months the Amish have it whipped out in three days. Looking forward to seeing more pics.

Looks great! I like the idea of the scissor trusses! I think once I get my current 40x64 finished I have a great idea for my next one.

siding was installed today. i don't have a concrete guy lined up yet. i dropped the ball on that, so it cost me time.

Looks great! Myself, I like having overhang on the gable ends.

Did you compare this post construction with regular frame on pad construction? I'm planning on the latter for my build (coincidentally a 32x40), but have been wondering what kind of savings a post build might yeild.

What size OHD's?

stick built was more, but after a ton of quotes, i can't recall the exact amount.

I really like the red siding with the beige trim. It's not a color that you normally see. Are you going to paint the door to match the trim or just leave it white? If it were me though, I think I'd paint it.

Before you concrete the floor, have you thought about putting a drain in? It looks that with the elevation, you could run a drain out the back over the hill. Again, if it were me, I think I would. That way, any winter snow or whatever could be squeegeed down. Just tossing out a couple of ideas. The garage looks great none-the-less.

yes, i'm going to paint the man-door. i'll wait till the big doors are hung, then color match.
there will be a trench drain in front of the garage. in the future, the driveway will be asphalted, then the water will be running towards the garage with quickness, so i want the water problem solved before it starts.

fri- post holes dug
mon- post set, structure erected, sheeting on roof
tues- sheeting on sides, roof shingled
thurs- siding

basically, 3 days, as fri and thurs they were only there 1/2 day each.

edit- another way to look at it: they went from flat ground to finish in 24 working hrs.

It's truly amazing the work ethic they have, it's been uncorrupted today's society and the modern work ethic. They have a work system down and holy cow does it work.

Wow. That is impressive. But that is the way they make money - put enough workers on it and hit it hard.

They have to get back to tend to their crops. I visited several RV builders up there and most work from 4am to noon. This way they could get to the fields in the afternoon. Very nice build CB

a few updates.
concrete is done. 4" over 2" foam board. a 12'x16' patio poured, too.
r15 doors installed
paint matched the man door

i have some pics of the pour, but they are on another camera that is mia at the moment.

Nice space. I have been working on a 20x60 used scissor trusses also 10' walls atop 2 rows of block plus the truss...Nice ceiling height. gotta love scissor trusses. I used to work at LSI in North Canton. lots of nice realestate there. I also moved into my childhood home on 2 acres kind freaky!!!:willy_nil
